Cervical Vaccine Side Effects

Cervical Vaccine Side Effects

Among the types of gynecological diseases, cervical diseases are relatively common, and the one we have all heard of is cervical cancer. The incidence of cervical cancer is not very low, so women must pay attention to it. If conditions permit, they can have a prenatal check-up every year to ensure the health of the uterus, or they can choose to get a cervical vaccine, which is simpler and more efficient. What are the side effects of cervical vaccination?

Is it necessary to get the cervical cancer vaccine?

The HPV vaccine prevents cervical cancer. At the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine, more than 300 cervical cancer surgeries are performed each year.

"The incidence rate is very high, ranking only after breast cancer among female tumors. China accounts for a quarter of the 500,000 new cases worldwide each year."

Cheng Xiaodong, assistant director of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Zhejiang University School of Medicine, told Qianjiang Evening News that the peak age for cervical cancer is women over 35 years old, with the peak period being 45 to 59 years old, but the incidence rate has shown a trend of getting younger in the past decade.

According to a paper published in Vaccine by Dr. Wang Shaoming of the Institute of Cancer Research, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, if the target of my country's HPV vaccine program in the future is girls aged 9 to 15, the delay in HPV vaccination in the seven years from 2006 to 2012 may cause 59 million girls in my country to miss the opportunity for vaccination. If these girls do not receive screening or other intervention measures in the future, there will be 380,000 new cases of cervical cancer and 210,000 deaths from cervical cancer among them - this is a worrying statistic.

Common side effects are similar to those of general vaccinations, such as redness, swelling and pain at the injection site, and occasional dizziness and nausea after injection, but these conditions are mild and generally do not last more than two days. If these conditions persist for a long time and may worsen, you should go to a regular hospital for treatment in time. Everyone's physical condition is different, and it is possible to have different degrees of reactions.

1. After using the HPV vaccine in some places in the UK, some people developed fever and nausea, others experienced dizziness, muscle weakness, and even muscle paralysis. Some people developed a red rash at the injection site after using this vaccine, and the injection site also had swelling and pain. A very small number of people developed skin allergies.

2. In general, the side effects caused by HPV vaccines only occur in a very small number of people, and there is no direct evidence to show that these so-called side effects are caused by the vaccine itself. Since the HPV vaccine is a newly developed type of vaccine, its specific effects remain to be seen.

3. The HPV vaccine was first launched in the United States in 2012. It mainly immunizes against eighteen different types of HPV viruses, including HPV6 and HPV11. This vaccine can make women 100% immune to cervical cancer, so that they will not be infected with human papillomavirus in the future and will not get cervical cancer.

Note: Although the HPV vaccine is a new type of vaccine and the first vaccine developed by humans for cancer, according to statistical results after the use of the vaccine, this vaccine does have a preventive effect on cervical cancer.
