Cassia Seed Foot Bath

Cassia Seed Foot Bath

Cassia seed is a relatively common Chinese medicine. The medicinal effects of Cassia seed are multifaceted. It can lower blood pressure, improve eyesight and calm the nerves. Generally speaking, people rarely use Cassia seed to soak feet. Of course, you can also use it to soak feet. At this time, it is best to add some other ingredients. Soaking your feet before going to bed every day can relieve psychological pressure, promote blood circulation in the body, and relieve fatigue. It is also very effective in promoting sleep.

Cassia Seed Foot Bath

Cassia seed is a common Chinese medicinal material, which has the effects and functions of calming the nerves, improving eyesight, and lowering blood pressure, but it is rarely used for foot soaking. If you want to achieve health care effects by soaking your feet with medicinal herbs, it is recommended to use medicinal herbs such as safflower and mugwort. Soaking your feet with these medicinal herbs can help dispel the cold, enhance the body's resistance, and promote blood circulation.

Effects of Cassia Seed

1. Antihypertensive effect: The water extract, ferment-water extract and alcohol extract of Cassia seed have antihypertensive effect on anesthetized dogs, cats, rabbits, etc.

However, the extract had no significant antihypertensive effect on anesthetized rabbits. However, 5 ml of Cassia seed tincture had a more significant and longer-lasting antihypertensive effect. The same amount of dilute alcohol injected intravenously also lowered blood pressure (which could lead to immediate recovery).

It has an inhibitory effect on the isolated toad heart and a vasoconstrictive effect (lower limb perfusion method).

In chronic experiments, the decoction of 2 g (raw drug)/kg per day had no antihypertensive effect.

2. Antibacterial effect: The alcohol extract of the seeds has an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus, diphtheria Corynebacterium, typhoid, paratyphoid, Escherichia coli, etc., while the water extract is ineffective. The water extract (1:4) has different degrees of inhibitory effect on certain skin fungi in test tubes.

It contains chrysophanol, but in small amounts, which may be related to its mild antibacterial and laxative effects.

Side Effects of Cassia Seed

Cassia seed is slightly cold in nature, so people who are prone to diarrhea, stomachache, or vomiting should not drink this tea. It should be noted that people with diarrhea and low blood pressure should use Cassia seed preparations with caution. Its "laxative" side effect must be taken seriously by pregnant women. The latest research shows that long-term drinking may cause irregular menstruation at the very least, or even abnormal endometrium at the worst, thus inducing premature birth.

If you read it in a book or someone else said that Cassia seed can cure myopia, then you are totally wrong. Cassia seed does have the effect of clearing the liver and improving eyesight, so it is more suitable for people with liver fire or heat signs. It should never be taken for people without obvious heat signs and with loose stools. There are many medicines in traditional Chinese medicine that can improve eyesight, such as Plantago, Lycium barbarum, Dendrobium, Silkworm, Mother of Pearl, Chrysanthemum, Cicada Shell, Semen Cassiae, Tribulus Terrestris, Cortex Fraxini, etc. The specific use of medicine needs to be combined with TCM syndrome differentiation, and cannot be used blindly. This is the biggest difference between using traditional Chinese medicine and using Western medicine.
