How to treat varicose veins

How to treat varicose veins

In life, many people suffer from the disease of varicose veins. Generally speaking, people who stand or sit for a long time, as well as those who are overweight, are more likely to suffer from varicose veins. When varicose veins occur, you should pay attention to care in your life, such as avoiding sitting or standing for a long time. If you are overweight, you should lose weight. Only good conditioning will be effective in relieving varicose veins.

1. Don’t lift heavy objects.

Heavy objects will increase the body's pressure on the lower limbs, which is not conducive to relieving varicose vein symptoms.

2. Don't wear tight clothes.

Belts and shoes should not be too tight, and it is best to wear low-heeled shoes.

3. Do not stand or sit for a long time.

Lying down all the time is also not conducive to relieving the symptoms of varicose veins. Especially in the second and third trimesters, reduce your workload and avoid standing or lying in one position for a long time. When sitting, avoid crossing your legs to avoid obstructing venous return.

4. Stay away from alcohol.

Drinking alcoholic beverages and drinks can aggravate varicose veins.

5. Avoid high temperatures.

High temperature can easily cause blood vessels to dilate and aggravate the condition.

6. Control your weight.

If you are overweight, it will increase the burden on your body and make varicose veins more serious.

7. The best sleeping position is lying on your left side.

When resting and sleeping, lying on the left side is beneficial to the blood circulation of the inferior vena cava and relieves the symptoms of varicose veins.

8. Raise your legs.

When sleeping, you can put a towel or quilt under your feet. This will facilitate blood flow and reduce pressure on the legs.

How to Prevent Varicose Veins

1. Exercise every day.

Even just taking a walk around your neighborhood can help improve blood circulation in the body and prevent varicose veins.

2. Control your weight.

At every stage of pregnancy, expectant mothers should try to maintain their weight within the recommended range.

3. Raise your lower limbs.

Whenever possible, lift your own legs and feet. When sitting, you can use a stool or box to prop up your legs; when lying down, you can use a pillow to elevate your feet. When sitting, expectant mothers should not put one leg or one foot on top of another leg or foot, as this will cause poor blood circulation in the pressed leg/foot. Expectant mothers should not sit or stand for a long time. They should move around after maintaining a posture for a period of time.

4. Lie on your left side. When sleeping, expectant mothers should lie on their left side with their feet on the pillow. Place a pillow behind your back and lean to your left side. Because the inferior vena cava is on the right side, lying on the left side can reduce the pressure of the uterus on the veins, thereby reducing the venous pressure on the legs and feet.

5. Wear elastic socks.

Wear special elastic stockings for varicose veins during pregnancy. These socks are also called medical graduated decompression stockings. They start from the ankles and go up along the legs, gradually reducing the pressure on the legs. They are very effective and can be purchased at pharmacies or maternity clothing stores. Twice as thick as regular pantyhose, these stockings are tight at the ankle and become looser as they go up the leg, making it easier for blood to flow back up to the heart.
