Can stomach dampness and heat cause anal protrusion?

Gastrointestinal damp-heat is the name of a disease in traditional Chinese medicine and is closely related to bad eating habits. Because it is a gastrointestinal problem. Therefore, after suffering from gastrointestinal damp-heat, some patients worry that this may lead to anal protrusion, which requires us to have a full understanding of the conditions of these two diseases. So, can gastrointestinal dampness and heat cause anal protrusion? Let’s take a look below.

Damp-heat in the stomach and intestines generally does not cause anal protrusion.

Symptoms of Damp-Heat Syndrome in the Intestines

Fever and thirst, abdominal pain and bloating, diarrhea with pus and blood, tenesmus, or sudden watery diarrhea, or uncomfortable diarrhea with yellow, thick and foul-smelling feces, burning sensation in the anus, short and yellow urine, red tongue, yellow and greasy coating, and slippery and rapid pulse.

The causes of anal prolapse include the following

1. Due to systemic malnutrition, the fat in the ischiorectal fossa is absorbed, the pelvic floor tissue becomes empty, and the support and fixation function of the rectum is lost, resulting in full-thickness rectal prolapse. The rectal submucosa relaxes and easily separates from the muscular layer, resulting in rectal mucosal prolapse.

2. Because the peritoneum in the rectal fossa is too low, when the abdominal pressure increases, the intestinal loops directly press on the anterior wall of the rectum, pushing the rectum downward.

3. Because the pelvic supporting tissue of children is incompletely developed and cannot provide adequate support for the rectum, or the sacral curvature has not yet grown, the rectum is in a vertical state and is relatively mobile; and because of long-term dysentery and diarrhea, the abdominal pressure continues to increase, which makes prolapse prone to occur, usually rectal mucosal prolapse.

4. Due to old age and multiple childbirths, or perineal tear during childbirth, the pelvic floor muscles and rectal support tissues become loose and weak, unable to fix the rectum in its normal position.

5. Because third-stage internal hemorrhoids and rectal polyps often prolapse, the rectal mucosa is pulled downward, causing rectal mucosal prolapse.

6. Due to long-term constipation, diarrhea, prostate hypertrophy, difficulty urinating, chronic cough, etc., abdominal pressure continues to increase, pushing the rectum downward.
