What could be the cause of persistent headaches?

Although headache is a very common disease in life, this phenomenon cannot be ignored because headache is likely related to brain disease in the human body. Because the causes of headaches are different, the symptoms of headaches vary from person to person. Some people have headaches that come and go, while others have them continuously. So what causes persistent headaches?

There are many causes of headaches, which can be roughly divided into primary and secondary types. The former cannot be attributed to a specific cause and can also be called idiopathic headache, such as migraine and tension-type headache; the latter may involve various intracranial lesions such as cerebrovascular disease, intracranial infection, craniocerebral trauma, systemic diseases such as fever, internal environment disorders and abuse of psychoactive drugs. The details are as follows:

Infect

A febrile illness caused by an acute infection of the brain or other systems of the body. Common brain infections that cause headaches include meningitis, meningoencephalitis, encephalitis, brain abscess, and intracranial parasitic infections (such as cysticercosis and hydatid cysts). Acute infections such as influenza, pneumonia and other diseases.

Vascular disease

Subarachnoid hemorrhage, cerebral hemorrhage, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral embolism, hypertensive encephalopathy, cerebral ischemia, cerebral vascular malformation, etc.

Space occupying lesions

Headache caused by increased intracranial pressure due to brain tumors, intracranial metastatic cancer, inflammatory demyelinating pseudotumor, etc.

Head, face and neck neuropathy

Neuralgia that controls the head and face: such as trigeminal nerve, glossopharyngeal nerve and occipital neuralgia. Headache caused by diseases of the head, face, eyes, ears, nose and teeth. Cervical spondylosis and other neck diseases cause head and neck pain.

Systemic diseases

Headaches are caused by hypertension, anemia, pulmonary encephalopathy, heat stroke, etc.

Traumatic brain injury

Such as concussion, cerebral contusion, subdural hematoma, intracranial hematoma, and sequelae of brain trauma.

Poisoning by poisons and drugs

Such as poisoning by alcohol, carbon monoxide, organophosphorus, drugs (such as belladonna, salicylic acid), etc.

Internal environment disorders and mental factors

Headaches during menstruation and menopause. Neurotic somatization disorder and hysterical headache.

other

Such as migraine, cluster headache (histamine headache), and headache-type epilepsy.
