Hemangioma is a common tumor that is generally benign and develops slowly. There are many sites where hemangiomas can occur, and hemangiomas can occur in almost any part of the human body. Some people find that they have hemangiomas on their wrists, which look very swollen. Although they will not get worse under normal circumstances, they will cause certain obstacles to wrist movements. So, what should you do if you have a hemangioma on your wrist? 1. What to do if you have a hemangioma on your wrist Hemangioma is a benign tumor and can be removed surgically. It is recommended that you go to the general surgery department of the hospital to have the hemangioma removed. Don't worry too much, it will not generally become malignant. 2. What is hemangioma? Hemangioma is a congenital benign tumor or vascular malformation commonly found in the skin and soft tissue, formed by the proliferation of angioblasts during the embryonic period. It is more common in infants at birth or shortly after birth. The residual embryonic angioblasts and active endothelial-like germs invade the adjacent tissues to form endothelial-like cords, which are then connected to the remaining blood vessels after tubulation to form hemangiomas. The blood vessels within the tumor form their own system and are not connected to the surrounding blood vessels. Hemangiomas can occur anywhere in the body, with those occurring in the oral and maxillofacial area accounting for 60% of all hemangiomas in the body, followed by the trunk (25%) and limbs (15%). Most of them occur in the facial skin, subcutaneous tissue and oral mucosa, such as the tongue, lips, and floor of mouth, and a few occur in the jawbone or deep tissue. It is more common in women, with a male-to-female ratio of approximately 1:3 to 1:4. 3. Treatment Currently, the commonly used methods for treating hemangiomas include drug therapy, laser therapy and surgical treatment, and there is no one method that can treat all types of hemangiomas. It should be determined based on factors such as the type, location, depth of the tumor and the age of the patient. Commonly used methods include: surgical resection, radiotherapy, cryosurgery, sclerosing agent injection and laser irradiation. 4. Treatment principles ①Prevent or treat serious complications that threaten life or function; ②Prevent deformities or facial defects after the hemangioma disappears; ③Prevent ulcers and infections, and promote ulcer healing, reduce scar formation, and relieve pain for patients who already have ulcers; ④ Reduce the psychological pressure on children and their families; ⑤ Avoid overtreatment of lesions that can resolve on their own and have a good prognosis |
