What to do if your child is blinded

What to do if your child is blinded

We need to make it clear that babies' squinting is a disease that people should pay attention to, and it cannot completely relieve the patient's symptoms. Babies squint because they do not pay attention to eye health. Patients should strictly control their diet and lifestyle. Babies squinting their eyes will cause them to always be unable to concentrate at work, which has a serious impact on their eyes. People hope to solve the problem of their baby's squinting as soon as possible and go to the hospital's ophthalmology department for a comprehensive examination in time. So, what should we do if our child loses his eyesight?

1. Blow out foreign matter with your mouth

Hold the child in front of you, clamp the child tightly with your right leg, then lift up the child's eyelids with both hands, puff up your mouth and blow a big breath towards the child, repeating this many times.

The rhythm of blowing is fast at first and then slow. Blow hard a few times first, then blow gently, until you see the foreign object reach the edge of the eye with the air, then blow hard with your mouth to blow the foreign object out of the eye socket. Or use a clean soft cloth to gently wipe the foreign body out of the corner of the eye.

Generally speaking, if it is a small and light foreign body, it will take several times of blowing hard and the foreign body will be expelled from the eye.

2. Rinse with eye drops

If a foreign object enters your eyes, immediately clean them with eye drops. If you can't find eye drops for the time being, you can use cold boiled water instead.

Pick up the child, lay him flat on your lap, and tilt his head back. This will make it easier for parents to observe whether foreign matter flows out with the eye drops. Gently drop the eye drops into the child's eyes and ask the child to gently roll his eyeballs. Do not blink quickly because you may worry that foreign matter may enter deeper into the eyeball.

3. Wipe with a soft towel wet with water

If pepper water or something similar gets into the baby's eyes, immediately wet a clean towel with water and press it on the baby's eyes, wipe gently, or rinse directly with plenty of water. At this time, do not let your child rub the wound with his hands, as it will only make it more painful.

After cleaning, you should immediately put in eye drops to prevent bacterial infection and eye diseases such as conjunctivitis. When encountering this situation, adults should not panic first. They should calmly think of ways to deal with it immediately, instead of being helpless and delaying the best cleaning time.
