How to relax your masseter muscles

The most frequently used facial muscles are the masseter muscles on both sides. Chewing food relies on the biting force of the masseter muscles, so the sides of our cheeks are bulging compared to other parts, making the face look bigger. To relax the masseter muscle, the first thing is not to chew for a long time. This is for people who have the habit of chewing betel nuts or chewing gum. Another way is to do some mouth relaxation exercises. Massage is also a good method. However, the masseter muscle on the face is difficult to reduce and can only be improved slowly.

The first thing to do to relax the masseter muscles is to stop chewing for a long time. Many people have the habit of chewing gum or betel nuts. But it is precisely this reason that causes the masseter muscle to become larger and larger. Chewing itself is a kind of exercise, and exercise will make local muscles developed and cause the masseter muscles to become larger. This is also the most common cause of enlarged masseter muscles. So if you want to relax your masseter muscles, reducing stimulation is the first step. Therefore, it is recommended that you reduce the use of your masseter muscles as much as possible in your daily life.

Open your mouth as wide as possible and make the mouth shape of shouting "ah". Keep this position for about 10 minutes, then close your mouth and relax your facial muscles. Repeat 3 to 6 times. This exercise strengthens the muscles in your cheeks and jaw. Purse your lips lightly as if you are whistling, blow air slowly to puff up your cheeks, and hold this position for 5 seconds. Then relax your facial muscles and repeat 3 times. This movement can exercise the cheek muscles and enhance the elasticity of the cheek skin.

Massage is also a way to relax the jaw muscles. The Cheek-Riding point on the face is an acupuncture point that can help people slim down their face and relax their masseter muscles. It is best to massage with your thumb for fifteen minutes every day until you feel a local soreness and swelling. Long-term massage can help relax the masseter muscles, and this acupoint is also a major acupoint of the stomach meridian, so it also has a certain effect on the treatment of facial diseases. Long-term stimulation can also improve the skin, killing two birds with one stone.

People with hypertrophy of the masseter muscle tissue generally have the habit of unconsciously clenching their teeth, and when facing pressure, such people are usually accustomed to silently bearing it, thus gritting their teeth. Although this is not a bad habit, it will make the masseter muscle grow larger unconsciously, so we need to learn to relax ourselves appropriately and not put too much pressure on ourselves. It is best to do outdoor sports on weekends or during rest time.
