Where to apply Sanfu stickers for rhinitis

Sanfutie, also known as Sanfutianjiu, is a Chinese medicine treatment method originated in the Qing Dynasty. It is based on the basic principle of "Sanfutianjiu". During the three hottest days of the year ("Sanfutian"), Chinese medicinal materials are applied to special acupuncture points to treat diseases that occur in autumn and winter. The ointment for patch therapy is the size of an ATM card and is usually used in a group of four. For different symptoms, four pieces of ointment are usually applied to different parts of the back together and can be torn off after eight hours.

The three hottest days of summer are calculated according to the lunar calendar. The third Geng day after the Lesser Heat is the first hottest day of summer, the fourth Geng day (ten days later) is the middle hottest day of summer, and the fifth Geng day (ten days later) is the last hottest day of summer. These are the hottest days of summer in a year, when the body's qi and blood are more abundant.

When carrying out the Sanfu days of moxibustion, the use of pungent and warm Chinese medicinal materials for external application, such as ginger slices, white mustard seeds, blood clotting, and asarum, are applied to specific acupuncture points on the body to prevent allergic rhinitis, tonsillitis, asthma, cough, chronic bronchitis and other diseases that occur in autumn and winter.

1. Location of Dazhui point: Sit upright with your head lowered. The point is located below the neck, in the depression below the transverse process of the seventh cervical vertebra.

2. Location of Waiguan acupoint: It is located between the upper arm bones, on the posterior part of the upper arm, on the line connecting Dangyangchi and the tip of the elbow, 2 inches above the distal longitudinal line between the wrist bones, and at the center of the gap between the ulna and radius.

3. Location of Feishu point: It is located on the back, below the spinous process of the third thoracic vertebra, two finger widths to the sides.

4. Tiantu point location: It is located on the neck, on the middle web of the neck, in the center of the suprasternal fossa, between the upper and lower neck muscles.

5. Location of Zusanli acupoint: It is located on both sides of the calf, 3 inches below Dubi, on the line connecting Dubi and Jiexi.

6. Guanyuan point location: in the lower abdomen, on the front middle web, 3 inches below the navel.

Generally speaking, the duration of a patch therapy is 1-4 hours for adults and 1-2 hours for children. However, the actual duration of the patch therapy should be adjusted according to one's physical fitness and the different prescriptions.

The treatment period is divided into the first, middle and last days of the dog days. Therefore, when using the Sanfu patch to treat rhinitis, it can be applied once in the afternoon of the first day of each stage. Each application time should not exceed 4 hours.

Note: The period of the dog days is relatively long. If the dog days last for 20 days, you can apply the treatment once more every 10 days.
