Can I apply heat to a bruise?

The so-called bruise is a symptom caused by subcutaneous bleeding when the skin is injured. In most cases, bruises are blue in color, but may also appear red or purple. Some people's skin seems to be particularly fragile, and bruises may appear with the slightest touch, so bruises must be treated promptly. So the question is, can bruises be treated with hot compresses?

Diagnosing the cause

First, observe the bruise and analyze the cause, whether it is caused by trauma or pathological bruise. If it is a pathological bruise, seek medical attention in time. Most bruises caused by trauma can be accelerated by the following methods.

Cold compress

Apply cold compresses within 24 hours of bruising. You can use an ice pack or a towel soaked in cold water to gently apply to the skin on the surface of the bruise. This can reduce and prevent continued capillary bleeding and prevent the bruise from further aggravating. When applying cold compress, remember not to rub or press too hard, as the capillaries will rupture. Rubbing or pressing too hard can easily increase the bleeding surface and amount of capillaries.

Heat

You can apply heat after bruising for 24 hours. Hot compresses can increase blood circulation and help reduce the color of bruises.

Rolled egg white

After 24 hours, you can peel the boiled egg and roll the egg white back on the bruised skin.

Wipe with pepper wine

Sichuan pepper wine is made by soaking Sichuan peppercorns in white wine. It can eliminate rheumatism and relieve muscle pain. It can be used after hot compress, and use a cotton swab dipped in pepper wine to gently rub it on the bruise.

Acupuncture or fire therapy, cupping

Acupuncture is the fastest and most effective way to remove bruises. However, acupuncture must be performed under the guidance of professional medical staff. Fire therapy mainly accelerates blood circulation, and cupping can absorb the blood stasis in the bruised area.

bloodletting

Bloodletting mainly refers to prick the skin at the bruise to remove the blood clot, and can be used in conjunction with cupping.
