How to deal with drunk driving

According to Article 91 of the Road Traffic Safety Law of the People's Republic of China:

1. If a person drives a motor vehicle after drinking, his motor vehicle driver's license shall be temporarily suspended for a period of not less than one month but not more than three months, and he shall be fined not less than RMB 200 but not more than RMB 500;

2. Anyone who drives a motor vehicle while drunk shall be detained by the traffic management department of the public security organ until he sobers up, and shall be detained for not more than 15 days and have his motor vehicle driving license temporarily suspended for not less than three months but not more than six months, and shall be fined not less than RMB 500 but not more than RMB 2,000.

3. If a person drives a commercial motor vehicle after drinking, his motor vehicle driver's license will be suspended for three months and a fine of RMB 500 will be imposed. If a person drives a commercial motor vehicle after being drunk, he will be detained by the traffic management department of the public security organ until he sobers up, and will be detained for not more than 15 days, have his motor vehicle driver's license suspended for six months, and be fined RMB 2,000.

4. If a person is punished for driving a motor vehicle while drunk more than twice within one year as stipulated in the first two paragraphs, his motor vehicle driver's license will be revoked and he will not be allowed to drive a commercial motor vehicle within five years.

1 Reduced sense of touch

When driving after drinking, due to the anesthetic effect of alcohol, the tactile sensation of the hands and feet is reduced compared to usual, and people are often unable to control the accelerator, brakes and steering wheel normally.
