Can Gastrodia elata and Maca be taken together?

3. Effects of sodium pentobarbital on sleep time:

3.1. Effect of vanillin on the sleep time of sodium cyclohexenol: 80 mice were divided into 3 groups, 40 mice in the control group were injected intraperitoneally with 0.2 ml of normal saline, 20 mice in the vanillin group were injected intraperitoneally with 200 mg/kg of vanillin, and 20 mice in the vanillin group were injected intraperitoneally with 200 mg/kg. All the mice were intravenously injected with 50 mg/kg of cyclohexene barbital sodium 30 minutes after administration. Vanillin prolonged the sleep time by about 4 times that of the control group, and vanillin prolonged the sleep time by about 2 times.

3.2. Effects of Gastrodia elata aqueous solution and Armillaria mellea fermentation liquid on sleep time of sodium pentobarbital: 15 groups of mice, 10 mice in each group, were intraperitoneally injected with 10 and 20 g/kg of Gastrodia elata aqueous solution or Armillaria mellea fermentation liquid on one side, and 30 minutes later, 50 mg/kg of sodium pentobarbital was intraperitoneally injected on the other side. The control group was given sodium pentobarbital only, and the loss of righting reflex was used as the indicator of sleep. Results There were significant differences between the drug-treated group and the control group.

3.3. Effects of Gastrodia elata injection, de-gastrodin and Gastrodia elata glycoside on the sleep time of sodium pentobarbital: 30 minutes after subcutaneous injection of normal saline or drug, 45-50 mg/kg sodium pentobarbital was injected intraperitoneally, and a t-test was performed. The sleep time of the control group was 66.6±13.7 minutes. The sleep time of the Gastrodia elata injection and the 20g/kg group without gastrodin was prolonged by 73% and 27% respectively compared with the control group, which was significantly different (P<0.05), while there was no effect in the gastrodin group.

4. Anticonvulsant effect:

4.1. Vanilla alcohol and vanillin were intraperitoneally injected at 300 mg/kg each into two groups of mice (40 mice in each group). The control group was intraperitoneally injected with 0.2 ml of normal saline. 30 minutes later, each group was intraperitoneally injected with different doses of pentylenetetrazol (55.4-93.8 mg/kg). Convulsion phenomena were observed and the CD50 values ​​of the vanilla alcohol group and the vanillin group were measured to be 84.37±8.55 mg/kg and 90.42±8.55 mg/kg, respectively. The CD50 increase percentages were 35.5% and 45.2%, respectively. Gastrodia elata solution and Armillaria mellea fermentation liquid were used in a similar way to the above method to observe the effects of pentylenetetrazol convulsions, and similar results were obtained.
