Vulvar hemangioma

Vulvar hemangioma

When it comes to vulvar hemangioma, I believe many people's first reaction is fear. In fact, vulvar hemangioma is a disease that occurs in middle-aged and elderly people, and most patients have congenital formation and have nothing to do with acquired factors. In addition, the harmfulness of this type of tumor is also worth mentioning. It can easily cause symptoms such as compression and heaviness of the vulva. So what is the cause of vulvar hemangioma?

In fact, vulvar hemangioma is not scary. As long as it is discovered in time, it can be effectively treated and removed through certain medications and surgery. However, it is necessary to go to the hospital for regular follow-up examinations to prevent recurrence. So what is the cause of vulvar hemangioma?

Vulvar hemangioma

Vulvar hemangiomas are mostly congenital, appearing at birth or a few weeks after birth, and may also occur during perimenopause and old age. Hemangiomas occur due to abnormal arrangement and distribution of blood vessels. Patients may have symptoms of vulvar pressure and a feeling of heaviness.

Causes

1. Congenital vulvar hemangioma is caused by abnormal development of hemangioblasts during the embryonic period.

2. Perimenopausal vulvar hemangioma is formed by an inflammatory reaction of vasculogenesis due to local tissue injury or other stimulation.

Clinical manifestations

1. Strawberry hemangioma: 1 to 6 mm in diameter, round in shape, slightly raised nodules or warts, with the skin covering the surface being bright red, purple, or blue, with clear edges and compressible.

2. Cavernous hemangioma: It mainly invades the deep part of the labia majora, causing the labia majora on one side to enlarge and deform. The tumor is mostly flat or irregular in shape. Some may be higher than the skin and appear nodular or lobed. It is red, blue, or purple in color and feels soft like a sponge.

3. Granulomatous hemangioma: solitary, tuft-like or with a pedicle, prone to bleeding.

4. Senile hemangioma: 1-5 mm, dark red or purple, papule-like, not easy to compress, often multiple.

5. Acanthotic hemangioma: like purple papule or mole, with wart-like thickening of the epidermis.

examine

Only a visual inspection is sufficient. In order to differentiate other vulvar tumors, puncture, secretions, colposcopy and histopathological examinations are sometimes required.

Differential Diagnosis

It needs to be differentiated from vulvar varicose veins, vulvar elephantiasis, melanoma, choriocarcinoma nodules, etc.

treat

1. Some hemangiomas tend to be self-controlled or disappear, so there is no need to rush for treatment, just regular observation is sufficient.

2. Sclerosing agent injection is suitable for small-scale strawberry hemangiomas.

3. Local injection or oral administration of glucocorticoids.

4.Surgical resection is suitable for large cavernous hemangiomas.

5. Radiotherapy: isotope application or injection, radiological intervention, and X-ray irradiation.

6. Laser or photodynamic therapy.

7. Cryotherapy.

After reading the introduction about vulvar hemangioma, I believe everyone has a clear understanding. In fact, vulvar hemangioma is generally a congenital disease that has been formed during the embryonic period. In addition, vulvar hemangioma receives certain stimulation during menopause, which can also cause the occurrence of this type of disease. Therefore, if you have suspected symptoms of vulvar hemangioma, you should go to a regular gynecological hospital for examination and treatment in time.
