I want to poop after eating.

If you talk about shitting at the dinner table, it is very disgusting and also very impolite. Defecation is a normal behavior because only through defecation can the excess waste in the body be discharged, thus maintaining gastrointestinal health. But some people find themselves wanting to poop as soon as they sit down at the table while eating. What is going on?

This condition is a functional bowel disorder, technically known as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and its incidence is as high as 24% among women in some regions. Generally speaking, irritable bowel syndrome has a certain relationship with mental stress, but its core pathogenesis is related to the abnormally increased sensitivity of the intestines. For example, some people want to go to the toilet to defecate right after eating. This is a sign that the intestines are abnormally sensitive to food stimulation.

Experts believe that the onset of irritable bowel syndrome is also related to genetics, intestinal infection, immunity, inflammation, gastrointestinal motility disorders, and intestinal flora disorders. It is a "syndrome" in which multiple pathophysiological factors interact and influence each other.

To diagnose irritable bowel syndrome, the first step is to rule out all other possible gastrointestinal diseases, and the second step is to evaluate whether the symptoms have persisted for more than 6 months.

To relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, we need to start from three aspects:

1. Psychological relief

Irritable bowel syndrome is a benign functional disease. It is necessary to eliminate fear, depression, anxiety and other psychological problems, otherwise it will lead to a vicious cycle. If adjusting your mentality does not work, you need to take appropriate antidepressants as prescribed by your doctor to relieve negative emotions.

2. Diet adjustment

Avoid irritating foods, such as foods with too much fat, highly irritating foods, foods that produce a lot of gas, and any food that causes abdominal discomfort after eating. These foods may include fatty meat, milk, coffee, strong tea, alcohol, soy products, soybeans, cold drinks, etc. If diarrhea is the main symptom, reduce the intake of foods high in fiber, such as vegetables and fruits.

3. Drug treatment

These drugs need to be used after a clear diagnosis and prescription by a doctor, including antispasmodics to relieve pain and discomfort, such as pinaverium bromide; antidiarrheal drugs to treat diarrhea-predominant IBS, such as loperamide; osmotic laxatives to relieve constipation-predominant IBS, such as polyethylene glycol; probiotic preparations can improve the overall symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome, etc.
