Normal blood sugar level after meal

Diabetes is a very common disease in today's society, and the age of onset is getting younger and younger, so more and more friends need to measure their blood sugar at home. So what is the normal value of blood sugar after meals? Many people need to pay attention to it, especially patients with unstable blood sugar. They need to monitor their blood sugar every day so that they can know the changes in their blood sugar more clearly.

The cause of diabetes is also very complicated, and it is closely related to the interaction between genetic genes and environmental factors. Therefore, if you have diabetes, you need to pay attention to many aspects. The most important thing is diet. You cannot eat foods with high sugar content. Severe patients cannot even eat sugary foods. Usually, the diet should be light. In addition, you need to insist on proper exercise every day to quickly metabolize the sugar in the body. Next, we will introduce the blood sugar values before and after meals.

Methods/Steps

1 Generally, the fasting whole blood glucose level is 3.9-6.1 mmol/L (70-110 mg/dL), and the plasma glucose level is 3.9-6.9 mmol/L (70-125 mg/dL). One hour after a meal, blood sugar levels can rise to 10 mmol/L (180 mg/dL), and return to 7.8-8.9 mmol/L (140-160 mg/dL) two hours after a meal.

2 Normal blood sugar values: generally fasting whole blood sugar is 3.9-6.1 mmol/L (70-110 mg/dL), and plasma blood sugar is 3.9-6.9 mmol/L (70-125 mg/dL). One hour after a meal, blood sugar can rise to 10 mmol/L (180 mg/dL, and recover to 7.8-8.9 mmol/L (140-160 mg/dL) two hours after a meal. Therefore, after three meals a day, people's blood sugar rises for 2 hours each (a total of 6 hours), and the remaining 18 hours are at the fasting blood sugar level.

3 Clinical Diabetes Reactions:

1. Fasting whole blood glucose ≥6.7 mmol/L (120 mg/dL) and plasma glucose ≥7.8 mmol/L (140 mg/dL) can be diagnosed as diabetes if repeated measurements are made twice.

2. When fasting whole blood glucose exceeds 11.1 mmol/L (200 mg/dL), it means that insulin secretion is very little or absent.

It is best for everyone to record the blood sugar levels before and after meals. If you need to monitor your blood sugar every day or frequently, it is best to find a notebook and record the blood sugar levels of each day in the order of date, time, and blood sugar value. This will give you a more intuitive observation of the changes in your blood sugar.
