Effects of gentamicin

Effects of gentamicin

When it comes to antibiotics such as gentamicin, many friends are not clear about its efficacy and indications. Gentamicin is mainly used to treat various diseases caused by Gram-negative bacteria infections and has obvious therapeutic effects. In addition, gentamicin has many other functions and effects, and can also treat other diseases and symptoms. So what are the other effects of gentamicin?

It has to be said that gentamicin actually has a wide range of effects. In addition to treating some common diseases, it can also treat oral ulcers, traumatic injuries, and even some acute gastroenteritis and other diseases. However, it is best to consult a doctor in advance when taking this type of medicine, so that it is safer and more reliable to use.

Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic commonly used to treat Gram-negative bacterial infections. In recent years, clinical trials have found that in addition to being used to treat many infectious diseases through injection, gentamicin can also treat certain other diseases with good results.

Effects of gentamicin

1. Treatment of oral ulcers: Dip a sterilized cotton ball in gentamicin injection and place it on the oral ulcer surface for about 1 minute. This can be repeated once. Use it after meals and before going to bed, and the ulcer will usually heal in 2 to 3 days.

2. Treatment of pericoronitis: Use 40,000 units of gentamicin, soak in 10 ml of warm water, 3 times a day, each time soak for 15 to 30 minutes after meals.

3. Treatment of prickly heat: Wash the affected area with warm water, then apply gentamicin injection solution to the affected area with a cotton ball, twice a day. The prickly heat will disappear after 1 to 2 days.

4. Treatment of traumatic infection: When the skin is damaged or burned and the wound is infected, you can first use sterile saline to clean the pus and blood from the wound, then use a cotton ball dipped in gentamicin to soak the entire wound, then apply sterile gauze to the wound surface and fix it with adhesive tape. This can effectively control the infection and promote wound healing.

5. Treatment of peptic ulcer caused by Helicobacter pylori: Take 40,000 units of gentamicin injection orally, usually once in the morning and once at 8:00 in the evening. After the symptoms disappear, continue taking the medicine for several months to consolidate the therapeutic effect. Gentamicin is rarely absorbed after oral administration and can exert a good local bactericidal effect on Helicobacter pylori in the stomach for a long time without causing toxic reactions.

6. Treatment of bacterial dysentery and acute gastroenteritis: Take 80,000 units of gentamicin injection orally, twice a day, usually 2 to 4 times a day to cure the disease.

I believe everyone already knows about the effects and functions of gentamicin. In fact, gentamicin is very effective in treating some skin injuries and wound infections. In addition, gentamicin is also suitable for treating diseases such as pericoronitis and bacterial dysentery. However, gentamicin is a drug after all, so it is best to consult a doctor before taking it, otherwise adverse consequences may occur.
