Abortion and medical abortion

Abortion and medical abortion

Abortion is a very common surgery. It is very simple to perform and the scale of the surgery is not large. It takes about 30 minutes. Women need to have a good understanding of it when undergoing such surgery. There is a big difference between abortion and medical abortion, and there are also some differences in the methods of use of abortion and medical abortion.

In the past, medical abortion was the most common option, but this practice was quite painful for women. Now, surgical abortion is the most common option. So what is the difference between surgical abortion and medical abortion? The following is a detailed introduction so that people can have a better understanding of this.

Human abortion and medical abortion:

Medical abortion is a process in which drugs are used to prevent the fetal sac from continuing the pregnancy in the uterine cavity and expel it from the body. When a woman becomes pregnant, her body produces a hormone called progesterone, which is a necessary factor in maintaining pregnancy. Abortion drugs bind to the progesterone receptors in the body, reducing the activity of progesterone in the body. Once the body lacks progesterone, it will cause miscarriage. Abortion drugs can cause the uterus to contract strongly, forcing the pregnancy tissue out of the body. Its disadvantages are: it is not safe and may easily lead to incomplete medicines.

Compared with artificial abortion, medical abortion does not require surgical operation, and there is no possibility of artificially introducing bacteria into the uterine cavity, so the chance of postoperative infection will be relatively reduced. However, the bleeding time after medical abortion is relatively long, averaging 18 days ± 11 days. Prolonged vaginal bleeding provides fertile ground for the growth and reproduction of bacteria. Due to the effects of drugs and continuous vaginal bleeding, the internal opening of the cervix is also in a relaxed state. If there is an ascending bacterial infection at this time, it will also cause pelvic inflammation.

Through the above introduction, we have a good understanding of surgical abortion and medical abortion. Therefore, when performing such operations, we must be careful not to perform them casually. However, it should be noted that when performing abortion operations, we must have a good understanding of the preparations before the operation so that we know how to do it best.
