What is herpetic stomatitis?

For stubborn diseases like herpetic stomatitis, we must better attract everyone's attention. Before treating such diseases, we must first test the child's blood count to see whether the disease is caused by bacteria or viruses. Only in this way can we give symptomatic treatment to herpetic stomatitis. I hope we understand.

Herpetic stomatitis can cause severe pain when it occurs, and children with the disease will often refuse to eat. The oral mucosa will also be stimulated by inflammation at this time, and saliva secretion will gradually increase, aggravating the child's drooling. Herpetic stomatitis is caused by the herpes simplex virus. During birth, the baby is infected through the birth canal, thus causing herpetic stomatitis.

The oral mucosa of newborns is rich in blood vessels, soft, dry, and secretes little saliva, which are all conducive to the reproduction of microorganisms, and the mucosa is easily damaged and infected. Herpetic stomatitis is caused by the herpes simplex virus. Herpetic stomatitis may be caused by infection through the birth canal during birth. The disease usually occurs 3 to 9 days after birth, accompanied by low fever or high fever (body temperature reaches 38 to 40℃). Red and swollen gums appear 1 to 2 days after the fever, and they bleed easily when touched. Single, one or several clusters of small boils can be seen on the oral mucosa such as the tongue, inner lips and cheek mucosa. They are surrounded by redness and quickly rupture to form superficial ulcers covered with white film-like exudate. There are local pain, refusal to feed, irritability, crying, and drooling. The fever can last for 5 to 7 days. Prevention and treatment of this disease are very important.

Stomatitis refers to inflammation of the oral mucosa due to various infections. If the lesions are limited to local areas such as the tongue, gums, and corners of the mouth, it may also be called glossitis, gingivitis, or angular cheilitis. This disease is more common in infants and young children. It can occur alone or be secondary to systemic diseases such as acute infection, diarrhea, malnutrition, long-term illness and vitamin B and C deficiency. Infections are often caused by viruses, fungi, and bacteria. Failure to pay attention to tableware and oral hygiene or various diseases that lead to a decrease in the body's resistance can all lead to the occurrence of stomatitis. Bacterial stomatitis is now rare, but stomatitis caused by viral and fungal infections is still common. Herpetic stomatitis is caused by infection with herpes simplex virus type 1. It is more common in children aged 1-3 years old, and there is no obvious seasonal difference in the onset of the disease. The virus can be isolated from the patient's saliva, skin lesions, urine and feces.

When herpetic stomatitis occurs, it is necessary to maintain the oral hygiene of the newborn more often, and the baby needs to drink more water and avoid the use of some severely irritating drugs to better prevent oral inflammation. I hope we can understand this and realize it.
