Preeclampsia is a symptom unique to pregnant women. That is, pregnant women who do not usually have high blood pressure will develop symptoms of high blood pressure after becoming pregnant. This symptom is quite harmful to pregnant women and will also affect later delivery. Pregnant women who want to avoid gestational hypertension during pregnancy need to check their blood pressure in time, which is the best way to monitor it. This article introduces several methods of self-examination for gestational hypertension. Expectant mothers can take a look.

Pregnancy-induced hypertension test

Pregnancy-induced hypertension, also known as pregnancy poisoning, preeclampsia, etc., is a disease unique to pregnant women. This symptom is more harmful to pregnant women. How to diagnose pregnancy-induced hypertension?

To diagnose whether you have gestational hypertension, expectant mothers can do the following self-examinations:

1. Blood pressure measurement

Blood pressure measurement is an effective method to check for gestational hypertension. It should be noted that sometimes emotional fluctuations can cause high blood pressure. Therefore, if the blood pressure shows an increase when measured for the first time, you may want to rest calmly for an hour before measuring it again. If your blood pressure is still ≥140/90 mmHg, you should be careful about whether you have gestational hypertension.

2. Whether there is edema

If a pregnant woman finds that she has edema above the ankles, which may spread to the whole body in severe cases, and the edema cannot be reduced even after bed rest, it is very likely a symptom of pregnancy-induced hypertension.

3. Headache and dizziness

In the early stages of pregnancy, headaches and dizziness are normal symptoms for pregnant women. However, if the pregnancy is >20 weeks and the headache continues to worsen and is accompanied by vomiting, chest tightness, or even blurred vision, you should be alert.

In addition, if you go to the hospital to check for gestational hypertension, you need to do the following tests:

1. Blood test

It mainly includes routine blood test, hematocrit, plasma viscosity, whole blood viscosity, clotting time, prothrombin time, platelet count, protamine test (3P test), electrolytes, etc.

2. Urine test

Qualitative and quantitative examination of urine protein and determination of urine specific gravity.

3. Liver and kidney function tests

Alanine aminotransferase, urea nitrogen, creatinine and uric acid were measured.

4. Fundus examination

The normal ratio of arteries to veins in the retina is 2:3.

5. Other examinations

Fetal ECG monitoring, fetal maturity, ECG, etc.
