How many bowel movements per day is normal

Changes in lifestyle habits will always affect people's physiological behavior to some extent, and one of the most easily affected is the number of daily bowel movements. The food that the human body takes in every day will turn into feces after a series of reactions and then be excreted from the body. This is the process of eating and defecation. However, some people are troubled by how many times a day it is normal to defecate.

Diarrhea and constipation are both very unhealthy symptoms, indicating that there is something wrong with the person's stomach and intestines. People can judge their physical condition by observing the shape and color of their stool, so having too many bowel movements in a day is not good, and not having a bowel movement for several days is also not good.

Normal bowel movement frequency : no more than 3 times a day and no less than 3 times a week. Having bowel movements 3 to 5 times a day and feeling the urge to defecate after meals are signs of mild colon dysfunction. Although diarrhea occurs, stool examination often shows no obvious inflammation or other abnormal changes, and has no obvious effect on the physical condition. The main symptom is the urge to defecate, which often occurs after meals and rarely at night. The stool is mostly pasty and may contain mucus, and symptoms such as abdominal pain disappear after defecation.

The number of bowel movements per person per day varies depending on individual constitution, eating habits and living habits. Generally speaking, 1-3 bowel movements a day are normal. However, clinical studies have shown that more than 60% of healthy people have bowel movements once a day. If the number of bowel movements is less than three times a week, it can basically be diagnosed as obvious constipation and needs to be taken seriously.

Normal bowel movements are closely related to human health. It is recommended to develop healthy toilet habits to maintain a normal number of bowel movements per day, cultivate a healthy intestine and a strong body.

Do not read books or play with your phone during daily bowel movements, as these behaviors can easily lead to incomplete bowel movements. Once you feel the urge to defecate, don't hold it in and go to the toilet immediately. Also, try to control the duration of each bowel movement to about 5 minutes. If it takes too long, it is particularly easy to cause hemorrhoids and other problems.
