Symptoms of a facial stroke

Symptoms of a facial stroke

Stroke is a well-known disease, and most people know that a person who has suffered a stroke cannot perform the functions of his or her major limbs. Therefore, symptoms such as difficulty in movement will occur. In fact, stroke is called cerebrovascular disease, which is mainly divided into various conditions such as hemiplegia, facial paralysis, and impaired consciousness. If you can identify what type of stroke it is and actively receive treatment, you can reduce the harm and recover quickly.

The incidence of facial stroke is not low, and the main patients are the elderly. After a facial stroke, the patient can basically recover after a long period of rehabilitation treatment. What are the symptoms of facial stroke? Let’s learn about them.

1. If the facial expression muscles on the affected side are completely paralyzed, the forehead wrinkles disappear, the palpebral fissure widens, the nasolabial groove becomes flat, the corners of the mouth droop, and the corners of the mouth deviate toward the healthy side when the teeth are exposed.

2. The affected side cannot frown, frown, close eyes, puff out air, or purse lips. When puffing out cheeks or whistling, air leaks out because the lips on the affected side cannot close.

3. When eating, food residues often remain in the buccal space on the affected side, and saliva often flows down from that side. Because the lacrimal points are turned inward with the lower eyelid, the tears cannot be drained normally and overflow.

What needs to be reminded here is that when someone suffers a stroke, correct rescue measures should be adopted, mainly to ensure that the patient's breathing is smooth, by letting the patient lie on his side or prone. In addition, family members should not shake the patient, and must ensure that the patient's head is kept high on the way to the hospital. In addition, during the recovery process, family members should provide supervision and care.
