Senile dementia, also known as Alzheimer's disease, is a type of senile dementia and a disease in which brain aging directly develops into brain atrophy mental disorder. It often occurs in old age (after 65 years old in men and after 55 years old in women), and is more common in women than in men. If it occurs between the ages of 40 and 60, it is called early Alzheimer's disease or pre-senile dementia.

Dietary principles

1. Food should be fresh, easy to digest, and the diet should be balanced, avoiding excessive intake of salt, sugar and animal fat. The daily salt intake should be controlled below 5 grams, and protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, minerals and trace elements should be consumed in a balanced manner.

4. It is advisable to eat more fresh vegetables and fruits containing fiber, and less spicy and hot foods to keep bowel movements smooth.

Dietary therapy options

1. Add 20g of Ganoderma lucidum, 15g of Acanthopanax senticosus and 12g of Epimedium to boiling water, cover and simmer for 5 minutes, and drink as tea. It has the effect of strengthening muscles and bones and strengthening heart strength. Suitable for the elderly with forgetfulness and physical weakness.

2. 6 grams of wolfberry, 6 grams of schisandra chinensis, and appropriate amount of white sugar. 3. 25 grams of black sesame seeds (crushed), 100 grams of rice, wash and add appropriate amount of water, cook porridge, and eat regularly. Suitable for senile dementia and liver and kidney deficiency.

4. Crush 50 grams of walnut kernels, add 100 grams of rice, wash, add appropriate amount of water, cook porridge, and eat it at any time. Suitable for senile dementia and deficiency of kidney essence.

5. Take equal parts of Poria powder and sesame seeds, grind them into fine powder and fry them until cooked. Add appropriate amount of honey and make them into cakes. Each piece weighs 5 grams. Take 2 pieces each time, twice a day. Suitable for senile dementia and spleen and kidney deficiency.

6. 100 grams of polished japonica rice, 25 grams of walnut kernels, 15 grams of dried lily, and 20 grams of black sesame seeds. Wash the japonica rice, put it in a casserole together with walnut kernels, dried lily and black sesame seeds, add water, and cook the porridge over low heat. Eat an appropriate amount every day. It is suitable for senile dementia accompanied by yin deficiency, internal heat and dry stool.

7. Cook 30 grams of walnut meat, 30 grams of water chestnut and 50 grams of glutinous rice into porridge and drink it warm every night. It has the effect of nourishing the spleen and kidneys, replenishing essence and improving intelligence. It is suitable for senile dementia, spleen and kidney deficiency, and gradual intellectual decline.

8. 15g Cistanche deserticola, 1 sheep kidney, 15g antelope horn chips, 20g magnetite, and 20g coix seed.

Wash the Cistanche with wine to remove the dirt, boil it with antelope horn chips and magnetite in water to extract the juice, then remove the fat membrane of sheep kidney, cut it into small pieces and put it into the juice with coix seeds to cook porridge. Eat it in several times, 1 dose per day. Suitable for senile dementia, physical weakness, dizziness and tinnitus.

For patients with Alzheimer's disease, their daily diet should be based on fresh and easily digestible foods, but they should not eat too salty foods or foods with high sugar and fat content.
