What is the scraping technique?

Gua Sha is a very good treatment method. For friends who want to have scraping, it is necessary to understand the scraping technique. So what is the scraping technique? Next, this article will introduce to you the relevant content of scraping techniques. Friends who want to know more about this knowledge can take a look! Please see the detailed introduction below.

Gua Sha refers to a traditional scraping method of treating diseases by repeatedly scraping certain parts of the body surface with tools such as copper coins or porcelain spoons with blunt and smooth edges to cause red or purple bruises under the skin. It has the effects of opening the pores, expelling evil spirits and regulating Qi and blood.

Items to prepare: treatment plate, copper coins or porcelain spoons, lubricating oil (sesame oil, peanut oil, paraffin oil will do).

Scraping technique:

1. Adjust your body position. Generally, lie prone or sit down when scraping your back, and lie supine when scraping your chest and abdomen to expose the area to be scraped.

2. Dip a copper coin or porcelain spoon in lubricating oil, and scrape the back along both sides of the spine from top to bottom 20 to 30 times each, until red and purple spots appear on the skin. Then start from the Dazhui point and scrape from inside to outside about 15 times. Then start from the lung point, heart point, diaphragm point, liver point, and spleen point and scrape along the intercostal spaces from inside to outside about 15 times each, so that 6 to 8 arc-shaped spots appear on both sides of the spine. The upper abdomen can be scraped up and down from the Zhongwan and Liangmen acupoints. The front and back of the neck can be scraped from top to bottom, and the elbows and popliteal fossa can also be treated with scraping.

3. After scraping, wipe off the patient's sweat or change the sweat-soaked clothes, and let the patient rest in bed.

Things to note when doing scraping:

1. Before performing scraping treatment, you should explain it to the patient and obtain his/her cooperation.

2. The edge of the scraping instrument must be smooth, round and blunt. If it is damaged or rough, it must not be used to avoid scratching the skin.

3. When operating, scrape in one direction with even force, and the intensity should be within the patient's tolerance. When scraping the back, chest, and abdomen, be careful not to expose the patient too much to avoid catching a cold.

4. During the scraping process, the patient's complexion, pulse, sweating, etc. should be observed. If there are any abnormalities, the operation should be stopped immediately and handled in time.

5. After scraping, keep warm, rest in bed, and observe whether the condition improves and keep records.

6. This method is forbidden for those who are weak, seriously ill, or have skin diseases.

Note:

Gua Sha tools must be sterilized. The scraping time is generally 3 to 5 minutes for each part, and the longest time is no more than 20 minutes. For some patients who have no sha or little sha, you cannot force them to have sha. The principle is to make the patients feel comfortable. Generally, you should wait 3 to 5 days after the first scraping and then do the second scraping after the sha subsides. 1 to 2 days after the appearance of sha, the skin may feel mildly painful and itchy. These reactions are normal.

The above is an introduction to the techniques of scraping. The specific operating procedures and precautions of scraping are introduced in detail. I believe that after reading the above introduction, you will have a very good understanding of this knowledge. If you want to learn scraping, you may wish to refer to the relevant operating procedures introduced above! In fact, scraping is quite simple.
