This product is spindle-shaped, slightly pointed at both ends, 1.5 to 3 cm long and 0.3 to 0.6 cm in diameter. The surface is yellowish white or light yellow with fine longitudinal lines. Wild Ophiopogon japonicus is usually dug after Qingming Festival and is commonly known as wild Ophiopogon japonicus. After digging up Ophiopogon japonicus, cut off the tubers, wash off the soil, expose them to the sun for 3 to 4 days, pile them in a ventilated place to allow moisture to evaporate. After about 3 days, spread them out and expose them to the sun again. Repeat this 2 to 3 times. After drying, remove all impurities from the roots. It is the tuberous root of Ophiopogon japonicus, a plant of the Liliaceae family. It is mainly used to treat dry cough due to lung dryness, vomiting blood, hemoptysis, pulmonary tuberculosis, lung abscess, fatigue, restlessness and fever, thirst, loss of body fluid due to febrile disease, dry throat and mouth, and constipation. Efficacy: Nourishes yin and produces body fluid, moistens the lungs and relieves cough: It is used for symptoms such as thirst, dry cough and hemoptysis caused by lung and stomach yin deficiency; palpitations and easy fright caused by insufficient heart yin; and damage to body fluid by heat in the late stage of fever. Combined with Adenophora Root and Fritillaria cirrhosa, it can treat dry cough due to lung yin deficiency. It is used in combination with black plum, schisandra chinensis, etc. to treat gastric juice loss, dry mouth and stomach heat.
