Going to bed early and getting up early accounts for 70% of human health, while mentality, diet and timely conditioning each account for 10%. So we can understand the importance of going to bed early and getting up early. We discharge energy during the day and recharge it when we sleep at night. We only charge 50% of the energy at night and release 100% of the energy during the day. Where does the other 50% come from? It is borrowed from the five internal organs. The five internal organs are called the five zang in ancient books. "Zang" means to hide. What is hidden is the essence of the human body. If you always borrow from it, the body of an average person will collapse after 15 years of borrowing. So we say that when we are young, we don’t feel anything, but once we reach our forties or fifties, all the diseases come. In fact, it takes a long time for the transformation from quantitative change to qualitative change. The moon's gravity can cause tidal phenomena and can bring about huge changes in the vast sea level. The sun's mass is more than 20 million times that of the moon, and its volume is more than 60 million times that of the moon. So we can imagine how great the sun's influence on the earth is. 1. The root of human illness and recovery The position of the Earth's orbit around the sun remains unchanged for thousands of years. This is the way of heaven. "The way of heaven is constant. It does not exist for Yao or die for Jie." It is not subject to human will, but operates according to objective laws. Now it has turned to the angle of the winter solstice. Humans are on Earth and are one with the Earth. That is to say, the overall climate is changing rapidly. The larger environment has reached the winter solstice, but the human body has not yet reached it and cannot keep up. We still feel flushed and have intermittent heat. Problems will arise if the human cycle cannot keep up with the natural cycle. All diseases come from the difference between the human cycle and the natural cycle. Similarly, recovery from all diseases comes from the harmony between the human cycle and the natural cycle. 2. The most important way of thinking is to achieve harmony between man and nature We need to gradually cultivate living habits and ways of thinking that are in line with nature. Worldview determines methodology. Cars require regular maintenance, let alone people. If there is no awareness of maintaining life at all, and we only consider how to treat the disease after getting sick, this may not be the best solution. We consciously consider whether everything we do is in line with the principles of health preservation. Gradually, this awareness will become a habit, which will greatly benefit our physical and mental health and even our career and work. For example, we must remember to "nourish yang in spring and summer, and nourish yin in autumn and winter." The New Meridian official account reminds that a day is also a condensed version of a year. 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. is the spring of the day, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. is the summer of the day, 15 p.m. to 9 p.m. is the autumn of the day, and 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. is the winter of the day. In spring, Yang energy is born from the liver, just like the seeds of crops are sown in spring; in summer, Yang energy grows in the heart, and the crops thrive under the sunlight; in autumn, Yang energy gradually retreats into the lungs, and the crops are ripe, ready for the wheat harvest; in winter, Yang energy is completely hidden in the kidneys, and the harvested crops are bagged and stored, ready to be sown again the next day. This is the process of Yang energy's growth and storage in one day, like a cycle with no end, and if any link is missing, there will be no good harvest. Now that we understand it in theory, let's take a look at the reasons why we have poor harvests and frequent physical discomfort in our daily lives, and see where the bias is. (1) Getting up during the Waking of Insects There are 24 solar terms in a year. A day is a microcosm of a year and also has 24 solar terms. 3 o'clock is the beginning of spring, 4 o'clock is the rain, and 5 o'clock is the awakening of insects. Jingzhe, "all the hibernating animals are startled, and the grass and trees grow tall and straight." The hibernating animals are awakened during this solar term, including bears, snakes, frogs, insects, etc. It's not that someone goes door to door to wake them up. Animals can feel the changes in the yang energy between heaven and earth, so they all wake up. Humans are also advanced animals, but people's excessive self-consciousness has weakened their perception of objective nature. Sensitive people will wake up around 5 a.m., and if they don't wake up, they won't sleep so deeply. Insensitive people will still sleep soundly. What is dormant in the human body? It is the yang energy that has been hibernating all night. That is to say, at 5 o'clock in the morning during the Waking of Insects, the yang energy in the human body needs to be awakened, just like completing sowing in spring. How to give birth? There is only one way, which is to "be awake and active in spring". At 5 o'clock, you must wake up, and after waking up, you must get up and move around. Once you move, the Yang energy will be generated. You may be lying in bed feeling very sleepy a minute ago, struggling with the decision of whether to get up or not. A minute later, when you actually get dressed and move around, you suddenly don't feel sleepy anymore. Why? Because the Yang energy has been generated. Exercise for half an hour, and then take a nap when you feel sleepy. (2) What does “more” mean? What does "few" mean? One thing The above tells you the importance of getting up early from the perspective of the 24 solar terms. Now let’s discuss what “how much” means. What does "more" mean? What does "few" mean? More and less are the same thing, just with different names. This is what Lao Tzu meant when he said "same origin but different names". The key is from which angle you look at it. A chopstick, when viewed lengthwise, is a point; when viewed horizontally, it is a line segment. Is the point the chopstick, or is the line segment? Both. So if you don't get up at 5 o'clock, are you doing too much or too little? In terms of time, it is more; in terms of the growth and storage of Yang Qi, it is less. For example, a farmer rests in the winter. In the spring, when others go to the fields to farm, he does not go and wants to rest for another three months. Did he have too much or too little? In terms of rest, he has had more, but without sowing in spring, how can there be a harvest in autumn? From this perspective, he also has less. Therefore, quantity, gain and loss are a pair of contradictions in unity of opposites. They exist at the same time. The key is what you hope to gain and what you hope to lose. If you don't get up early, on the one hand, you won't be able to sow in the spring, and there will be no harvest in a year, or even a single day; on the other hand, energy is conserved, and if the yang energy in the body is not transformed into clear energy and released, it will suffocate in the body and be transformed into fire and turbid acid. People who don't get up early are lack of energy. The later you get up, the more tired you will feel. If you don't believe me, try sleeping until 12 noon. If you don't get up early, the yang energy is not generated, so people will feel weak. But at the same time, people are prone to temper, because the yang energy is suffocated and turns into fire, so people have a bad temper and the evil fire in the body is too strong. Turbid acid corrodes the kidneys. There are probably more than 100 million people with kidney disease in the country. The root cause is that they get up late, and the liver qi is not released, but is retained in the body. The liver controls acid, and this acidic substance is corroding the kidneys. The kidneys cannot withstand the corrosion every day, which is very scary, so just get up early and go to bed early. (3) The solution to insomnia is to get up early Many people want to go to bed early but cannot fall asleep. One solution is to get up early. You cannot decide whether to go to bed early, but you can decide whether to get up early. When you get up early, you can take a half-hour break at noon, be very energetic in the afternoon, and feel sleepy early at night. When you are not sleepy at night, you cannot get up in the morning. This is a vicious circle. How to break this circle? Get up early. We always recommend that children get up early, but at the same time we have to pay attention to one thing. If children get up at 4 or 5 o'clock to study, it is best to take a nap half an hour before school. For example, if they get up at 4 o'clock to study and go to school at 7 o'clock, then they will study until 6:30 and then go to bed for a while. This way they will not be sleepy in the morning. Moreover, they must rest for a while at noon and develop the habit of taking a nap. It doesn't need to be too long, 10 to 30 minutes at noon every day will be enough. If you can't sleep, you can just close your eyes and rest. Many parents report that their children study until after 11 o'clock and go to bed, which seems to be very hardworking. However, upon closer inspection, it is found that the children do not rush to do their homework when they get home from school, but relax first, watch TV, eat, etc., and do not wait until 7 o'clock to start studying. This is wrong. When you get home and do your homework as intensely as if you were fighting a war, you can save an hour, and then you can go to bed an hour earlier. Remember, sleep is not a matter of time, it is a matter of time period. From 9 pm to 3 am is the time period when heaven and earth replenish energy for people. If you go to bed, you will catch up. If you go to bed late, you will replenish a little. If you don't sleep, you will not catch up. What if I say I didn’t catch up? If you miss it, you miss it. There is no other way. Not sleeping is your business. The laws of nature will not change because of you. The New Meridian official account suggests that today’s children become more depressed the more they go to school. So some children preparing for the college entrance examination only sleep 6 hours a day. They go to bed at 12 o'clock at night and go to school at 6 o'clock in the morning. You tell them to go to bed early, but they say no because they cannot finish their homework. The child can only sleep 6 hours a day, and finally becomes like a neurotic and depressed. Nowadays, there are too many young people suffering from depression. They are sick all over and can’t remember anything. Later I told these children, if you sleep for 6 hours, you can move it forward, so you can go to bed at 9 pm and wake up at 3 am. Anyway, the winter begins at 9 pm and the spring begins at 3 am, which is exactly one day of winter. You can "hibernate" for these 6 hours. So we call it seasonal health care in traditional Chinese medicine, which is specifically about time. In a sense, the fundamental issue of traditional Chinese medicine is time medicine. That is, human behavior can resonate with the rhythm of nature. That is to say, if you want to catch this train, you have to follow the train schedule. So if you want to catch the natural train, you just have to follow the schedule. (4) The only remedy for sleeping late is to get up early The only remedy for sleeping late is to get up early. This seems contradictory. If you go to bed at 1 a.m., the remedy is to get up at 5 a.m.? Yes. After getting up, you can move around for a while and then take a nap, but you can't sleep until 7 or 8 o'clock. Not sleeping at night is called wasting Yang energy, and not getting up in the morning is called blocking Yang energy. Simply put, not sleeping at night is like throwing away all the food in the house during the winter. The only remedy is to work hard during the spring plowing season, sow seeds in the hope of a good harvest in the fall, which is to get up early. Things that seem contradictory are actually not contradictory. |
