Accidentally got sunburned? First aid tips are really needed!

It’s scorching hot in midsummer, and when traveling, it’s inevitable to “play games with the sun”. What if you accidentally get sunburned? Don't panic, here are some first aid tips.

1. When you see your skin start to turn red, get out of the sun.

2. Take advantage of the time and apply cold compress. Take a towel soaked in water and put it in the refrigerator for a few minutes, then apply it to the sunburned area for about 10 minutes, 2 to 3 times a day.

3. Try applying milk to the sunburn. Dip a cloth in a mixture of milk and ice water and apply it to the sunburn. The whey protein and lactic acid in milk have anti-inflammatory and soothing properties.

4. Don't put ice on sunburn. Because putting ice cubes on the sunburned area will cause frostbite on the surface of the sunburned skin, which will cause too much damage to the skin.

5. You can try aloe vera lotion or gel. Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties and helps soothe redness, inflammation and sunburn. Applying it on sunburned skin will give you an unprecedented cooling sensation. It will be more effective if you freeze it in the refrigerator before use.

6. Ointments containing steroids are also acceptable. Because steroids can reduce inflammation and relieve pain, they can make people feel more comfortable and no longer feel like they are on fire.

7. It is also good to apply green tea on sunburned skin. After the green tea has cooled, apply it on the sunburned skin for 15 minutes, then pat the skin dry. Green tea has anti-inflammatory properties due to its high concentration of antioxidants.

8. To reduce the possibility of peeling, use a fragrance-free moisturizer. Follow with a fragrance-free serum-moisturizing lotion several times a day. You can also use sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher (but don't use chemical ones), or wear protective clothing.

9. Remember to drink plenty of water. Sunburn can cause dehydration, so remember to replenish enough water as soon as possible.

10. See a doctor. If you have any of the following 4 symptoms, it is best to see a doctor: (1) The sunburn covers more than half of your body. (2) Blisters formed. (3) There are systemic symptoms such as fever, chills or severe pain. (4) There are symptoms of infection, such as increased redness of the skin or pus discharge.
