What is posterior pharyngeal follicular hyperplastic pharyngitis?

Severely polluted living environment, long-term work in dusty and irritating environments, smoking and drinking, and bacterial and viral infections can make people more susceptible to posterior pharyngeal follicular hyperplastic pharyngitis. Retropharyngeal follicular hyperplastic pharyngitis is a type of chronic pharyngitis. How should it be treated?

Chronic pharyngitis

How to eliminate the hyperplasia of lymph follicles in the posterior pharyngeal wall? First of all, what are lymph follicles? What are the causes of lymph follicle hyperplasia?

From a medical point of view, there are many lymphatic tissues in the pharynx, some of which are clustered into clumps called tonsils, and some are scattered under the mucosa, called lymphoid follicles, all of which belong to the lymphatic tissue of the pharynx.

Causes of lymphoid follicle hyperplasia:

Lymph follicles belong to the immune system, peripheral immune organs, and mucosa-associated lymphoid tissue. They are the smallest units of peripheral immune organs, with a diameter of only about one millimeter. They are widely distributed in the mucosal propria of the entire upper respiratory tract (external nasal meatus, root of tongue, tonsils, nasopharynx, oropharynx, laryngopharynx, larynx, trachea, etc.), covered with mucosa, and are usually not easy to see. Their main functions are to produce lymphocytes, antibodies, and phagocytose foreign matter.

After suffering from chronic pharyngitis, antigens (animal dander, dust mites, insect egg protein, pollen, animal and plant protein, etc.) flow through the lymph follicles with the lymph fluid, stimulating the proliferation of lymph follicles, and some evolve into plasma cells. Plasma cells produce antibodies, which, when injected into lymph and blood, can act on antigens to protect the health of the body. Due to the continuous stimulation of antigens, this process continues over and over again (or repeatedly), and the lymph follicles gradually increase in size and then push up the mucosa, which is the hyperplastic lymph follicles we see.

The proliferating lymph follicles we can see are only a small part of the entire lymph follicles. Most of them grow in the mucosal lamina propria. Laser acupuncture, tweezers, electrocautery, plasma and other surgeries only destroy a small part of the upper part. Because the cause of lymph follicle hyperplasia is not removed and the function is not needed, the lymph follicles will continue to proliferate. There is no obvious difference between most patients before and after the operation. Some patients feel that they are not as good after the operation as before the operation because the tissues around the follicles are damaged during the operation.

In patients with lymphoid follicle hyperplastic pharyngitis, the hyperplasia of lymphoid follicles on the posterior pharyngeal wall can fuse into pieces, which shows that there are many lymphoid follicles distributed on the posterior pharyngeal wall. Even if the existing lymphoid follicle surgery is thorough, other lymphoid follicles will continue to proliferate due to functional needs. Therefore, lymphoid follicle hyperplasia is not suitable for surgical treatment.

The lymphatic tissue in our body, except for the swollen lymph nodes caused by tumors and tuberculosis, other swollen lymph nodes will slowly disappear (or return to their previous state) after the original inflammation is eliminated, no matter how big or hard the lymph nodes are. The same is true for the lymph follicles on the posterior pharyngeal wall.

What is more serious is that after the operation, the body's immune regulation function is destroyed and the immunity is greatly reduced. As long as you catch a little cold, you will often catch a cold and have a fever, which will seriously affect your work and life. After a relapse, the patient will be more painful than before. In most cases, we recommend using traditional Chinese medicine to treat chronic pharyngitis and lymph follicle hyperplasia. For example, Bayin Liangsheng Tea has unique effects on lymph follicle hyperplasia, foreign body sensation in the throat, dry throat, sore throat, cough, hoarseness, etc. Generally, patients will have obvious effects in 7-10 days, and the hyperplastic lymph follicles will basically disappear after about 1 cycle.
