What causes chest tightness and back pain? What causes it?

In life, especially those who often sit in the office have this experience, that is, back pain. So what are the general causes of back pain? Why do I have back pain?

Reason 1: The mattress is too hard

Most people who suffer from chronic low back pain know that the mattress cannot be too soft, and some even sleep on a hard bed every day. In fact, a mattress that is too hard is not suitable either. This is because the normal lumbar spine has a physiological forward curvature. If you lie on your back on a hard bed for a long time, this physiological curvature will gradually disappear, and the normal mechanical balance of the lumbar spine will be destroyed, making the muscles behind the waist always in a relatively tight state. The muscle fibers in the muscles are like rubber bands, which have limited elasticity. If they are often stretched tight, the elasticity will decrease over time, and some weaker muscle fibers will be broken and contracted together to form hard nodules. Pressing them will cause pain, and pulling when the lumbar spine moves will also cause pain.

On the other hand, the normal movement and stability of the lumbar spine depend on the elasticity of the "tendons" around it. Just as the classic Chinese medicine work "The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine" said: "Tendons are responsible for binding bones and facilitating joints." The "tendons" here refer to muscles, ligaments and other tissues. Muscle injury can further aggravate symptoms such as low back pain and difficulty in movement.

Therefore, the mattress should be neither too soft nor too hard. It should be of moderate hardness, have a certain degree of elasticity, and be able to be naturally shaped according to sleeping posture.

Reason 2: The mattress is damp

Why is the mattress damp? Because people sweat after falling asleep. Experiment: Take a quilt and spread it on the floor to sleep for one night. Even in the cold winter, you will find the quilt is wet when you wake up in the morning. Imagine if the mattress is not exposed to the sun regularly, it would be equivalent to "sleeping in a wetland for a long time". Cold and dampness would invade the body, blocking the meridians over time, causing qi and blood to be blocked, and symptoms such as pain and stiffness would occur.

Therefore, whether you sleep on a hard bed or a Simmons mattress, it is best to put a soft and elastic cotton mattress under it and expose it to the sun frequently.

Cause 3: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Chronic fatigue syndrome is a common disease in modern society. In addition to back pain, it is often accompanied by decreased memory and reaction ability, sleep disorders, anxiety, palpitations, chest tightness, etc. However, a comprehensive physical examination revealed no organic lesions. This situation is likely to be chronic fatigue syndrome.

The diagnosis and treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome is relatively complicated and requires consultation with a professional doctor to develop a reasonable treatment plan; at the same time, adjustments to mental state and daily life and work behavior are also very important.

Cause 4: Osteoporosis

Middle-aged and elderly people often feel back pain, especially women after menopause who experience back pain that is not easy to relieve on their own. They should go to the hospital to test bone density to see if osteoporosis has occurred. If necessary, blood may need to be drawn to check whether bone metabolism is normal. In the past, due to insufficient attention, it was believed that the symptoms of osteoporosis were not obvious, and diagnosis was mainly based on bone density tests. In fact, back pain in a considerable number of middle-aged and elderly people is an external manifestation of osteoporosis, which should be taken seriously. The purpose of treating osteoporosis is not only to relieve symptoms such as back pain, but more importantly to prevent osteoporotic fractures. From this perspective, in addition to calcium supplementation and necessary drug treatment, you also need to pay attention to diet regulation and weight-bearing exercise.
