Causes of Spleen Deficiency

The spleen belongs to the earth in the five elements, and is the most yin among the yin and yang of the five internal organs. The spleen is responsible for transportation and transformation, regulating blood, raising the clear, and distributing the essence of water and grain. It is the "source of qi and blood production." After birth, all organs and tissues rely on the essence of water and grain produced by the spleen for nourishment, so the spleen is called the "foundation of acquired constitution." It, together with the stomach, meat, lips, mouth, etc., constitutes the spleen system. The spleen function is weak and the biochemical source is insufficient due to reasons such as spleen deficiency, irregular diet, emotional factors, imbalance between work and rest, spleen damage caused by medicine or food, or long-term residence of dampness in patients with chronic kidney disease, which damages the spleen. The spleen plays a very important role in the digestion and absorption of food, so almost all gastrointestinal diseases can occur or be accompanied by spleen deficiency.

1. Spleen deficiency

It is mostly due to improper diet, excessive fatigue, or long-term worry, which damages the spleen and earth, or insufficient resistance and weak constitution.

2. Spleen Yang Deficiency

It is mostly caused by the further development of spleen deficiency, or may be caused by eating disorders, overeating of raw and cold food, or too much cold medicine, which damages spleen yang, or insufficient kidney yang, weakening of life gate fire, and failure of fire to generate earth.

3. The middle qi sinks

Zhongqi also refers to temper. When the spleen qi rises, it transports the essence of water and grain to the lungs to nourish other organs. If the spleen is weak and the qi sinks, symptoms such as chronic diarrhea, rectal prolapse, and uterine prolapse may occur.

4. Spleen fails to regulate blood

If the spleen is weak and cannot retain blood, blood will not circulate through the meridians.
