Symptoms and treatment options for genital herpes in women

At present, many female friends often find that herpes appears in their genitals. So, what are the symptoms of female genital herpes?

Symptoms of genital herpes in women:

Genital herpes develops an average of 4 to 5 days after infection. The affected area of the vulva first has a burning sensation, followed by the development of papules in groups, which may be one or more clusters, followed by the formation of blisters. After a few days, it develops into a pustule, which then breaks to form an erosion or shallow ulcer, causing pain. It eventually scabs and heals on its own. The course of the disease is about 2 to 3 weeks. In women, it is often seen in the labia majora and minora, clitoris, mons pubis, cervix, and also in the urethral opening.

The virus enters the human body through damaged skin and mucous membranes, spreads near the wound, and then spreads through the blood circulation or nerve pathways. After the primary infection subsides, the virus remains dormant in the body, waiting for an opportunity to wreak havoc. When the body has problems and its resistance is reduced, they will start to show off their power again, such as when catching a cold, having a fever, or being emotionally excited. When there is an early warning or mechanical stimulation, the latent and dormant virus can be activated and cause the disease to occur again.

Treatment:

Antiviral treatment is the main treatment, and genital herpes is treated with acyclovir, valacyclovir, famciclovir, etc. under the guidance of a doctor. Acyclovir cream, penciclovir cream and phthalamide cream can be applied to the skin lesions. If there is a secondary bacterial infection, antibiotics should be added.
