Why do babies fart a lot? Maybe it's due to these four reasons

It is very common for babies to fart, but if the baby farts frequently, the mother should find out the reason. So what is the reason why babies fart a lot?

1. Eating too much milk

If you find that your baby cries, farts a lot, and has colic when sucking milk. That could be hyperlactation syndrome, where the baby consumes a lot of foremilk and less hindmilk containing fatty acids, causing the baby's stomach to empty quickly and excrete excess lactose into the intestines, which leads to increased intestinal fermentation and colic symptoms.

Solution: If the baby drinks too much milk and farts a lot, it is recommended that the mother should only feed the baby on one side at a time, and then wait 1.5-2 hours before feeding the baby on the other side. In addition, after the baby finishes feeding, it is recommended to hold the baby upright and gently pat his back with your hollow palms to make the baby burp and expel gas, which will make the baby feel much more comfortable. At the same time, formula milk that is difficult to digest can also cause indigestion in babies. It is recommended to use infant formula milk with a comfortable formula to help babies digest and reduce the burden on the intestines.

2. The baby is hungry

Babies' tendency to fart is also related to being hungry. If your baby keeps farting intermittently, and most of the farts are empty but have no odor. That is mostly because after the baby's gastrointestinal tract is emptied, the intestinal motility caused by hunger increases.

Solution: If the mother often hears bowel sounds from the baby, it means the baby is hungry and should be fed in time. If the baby does not get enough milk and is hungry, he will cry incessantly, and even feeding him some vegetable soup or juice will not help. A hungry crying baby will be very anxious when feeding. If you also find that your baby has light sleep, is easily awakened, and often cries for no reason, it means that they want their mother to feed them. His "baby language" is: I'm hungry.

3. Eating too much starch

Often babies love to fart and they are smelly, they fart or hiccup constantly, and they have a sour smell. This is a sign of indigestion in babies!

Solution: If the baby's stomach is not very good and is prone to indigestion, it is recommended that the mother should reduce the amount of milk when feeding, add boiled water to reduce the intake of fat and high-protein foods. Or make the food thinner and add appropriate amount of milk containing bifidobacterium factors and glucose. Because bifidobacteria can be converted into bifidobacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, they have the effect of inhibiting Escherichia coli and promoting food digestion and absorption.

4. Swallowing Excessive Air

When babies suck milk, they suck air into their stomachs, causing their stomachs to gurgle, which results in more farts. The baby's digestive system is not yet fully developed, the stomach is small and flat, and when a large amount of air passes through the intestines, the baby will feel very uncomfortable. If there is a lot of flatulence, the mother should let the baby burp more often, and let the baby burp the flatulence before and during each feeding. When feeding, hold the baby in a semi-sitting position in your arms and let the baby hold the nipple and areola in his mouth. The milk flow should not be too strong or interrupted.

Solution: If you want to reduce the amount of air your baby inhales, the best way is to hold your baby carefully and allow your baby's esophagus to move up and down while he or she is sucking milk. Do not let your baby lie flat. In this way, air is inhaled only due to the force of gravity and not forced.
