What to do if you have a headache after strenuous exercise?

Life lies in exercise, so many people have developed the good habit of morning exercises. However, they always experience headaches after strenuous exercise. Experts say that headaches are caused by bad habits, so you should avoid eating too much cold drinks or lowering your body temperature suddenly.

1. Don’t be greedy for cold drinks

Exercise often makes people sweat profusely, especially in the summer. With the consumption of a large amount of water, people always feel dry mouth and urgent need to drink water after exercise. Most of them are young people who like to buy some cold drinks to cool off and quench their thirst. However, the human digestive system is still in a suppressed state and its function is low at this time. If you drink a lot of cold drinks in order to cool down and quench your thirst, it can easily cause gastrointestinal cramps, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and induce gastrointestinal diseases. Therefore, do not drink a lot of cold drinks immediately after exercise. You can drink a small amount of boiled water or salt water.

2. Don’t drop your body temperature suddenly

During exercise, blood vessels on the body's surface dilate, body temperature rises, pores dilate, and perspiration increases. If you walk into an air-conditioned room or take a nap in the air vent immediately after exercise, or rinse your head with cold water to cool down, your skin will tighten and sweat will stop, causing physiological dysfunction such as temperature regulation, and a decrease in immune function, leading to colds, diarrhea, asthma and other symptoms.

3. Don’t drink too much to quench your thirst

When thirsty after strenuous exercise, some people drink a lot of cold boiled water or other beverages, which will increase the burden on the gastrointestinal tract and dilute the gastric juice. Doing so will not only reduce the bactericidal effect of gastric juice, but also hinder the digestion of food. Drinking water too quickly will also cause blood volume to increase too quickly, suddenly increasing the burden on the heart and causing temporary disorders of electrolytes such as potassium and sodium in the body, and even heart failure, chest tightness, abdominal distension, etc.

4. Do not drink alcohol to relieve fatigue

After strenuous exercise, the human body's metabolism is at a high level. If a person drinks alcohol at this time, the alcohol will be absorbed into the blood faster, and the harm to organs such as the liver and stomach will be greater than usual. Drinking beer after exercise is also not good, as it will increase the uric acid in the blood and induce joint diseases.
