Physical examination may show mild tenderness, hyperactive bowel sounds, and rectal prolapse, mainly in the abdomen, around the umbilicus, or in the lower abdomen. 4. Blood in the stool Patients with chronic enteritis will have mild symptoms of bloody stools, but severe patients will have fresh blood flowing out, which can easily lead to shock symptoms. 5.
