The 4 major symptoms of paranoia

The 4 major symptoms of paranoia

Persecution delusion is a type of delusion. It is a chronic disease. Patients are often afraid of being harmed and often think that they are being deceived by family and friends, or are being stalked, poisoned, or framed.

1. Paranoia is a chronic disease characterized by systematic and organized delusions. The estimated prevalence is approximately 0.03%, with no gender difference in incidence, and most cases occur in middle or late adulthood. The delusions of patients with paranoid disorder are "non-bizarre", which means that the content involves situations that may occur in daily life, such as being stalked, poisoned, loved, deceived or framed by family members, etc.

2. Generally speaking, patients with delusional disorder do not have symptoms of hallucinations, but a small number of them will have tactile or olfactory hallucinations related to the delusional theme. Apart from the delusion-related content that may be affected (such as hiding at home for fear of being hunted by gangsters), the rest of the behavior and appearance are normal, and there are no major obstacles to the patient's personality, intelligence, and the relationship between him and the environment.

3. Patients firmly believe that they are being persecuted, deceived, stalked, poisoned, slandered or conspired against, etc. They often become extremely cautious and defensive. Small insults may be magnified by the patients and become the core of delusions. They often include related people in their delusional world.

4. Paranoia provides us with a typical case. Patients with this disease always believe that some individual or group wants to harm them, and feel miserable every day. He seized on some extremely flimsy facts as evidence of a deliberate murder, and this emotion gradually spread to his life, forcing him to make absurd actions and even to have the urge to kill. However, this pathology also includes delusions of jealousy, success, entitlement, erotism (the conviction that one is loved by a stranger), and mysticism.
