What are the treatments for halo nevus?

Halo nevus can have a great impact and harm on patients, especially those with vitiligo, whose incidence rate is very high. Therefore, we must pay attention to accurate treatment. Patients are advised to take in trace elements appropriately to rule out the possibility of malignant melanoma.

1. Halo nevus refers to the appearance of a depigmented halo around the nevus cells, followed by the disappearance of the central pigmented nevus. It usually occurs before the age of 20, and the incidence of halo nevus in patients with vitiligo is between 18% and 26%. If there are erythema or scabs, they may disappear on their own after a few months. However, there are cases where even the central mole showing signs of inflammation does not disappear.

2. Medication

Halo nevi generally do not require treatment. When this disease occurs, skin and mucous membrane examination should be performed to rule out the presence of malignant melanoma, dysplastic nevus, and vitiligo. If skin lesions show atypical changes, histological examination should be performed promptly.

3. Diet and health care

The dietary structure of the children must be adjusted to a certain extent. They should eat more high-protein, high-energy, and high-vitamin B foods. They should also take in appropriate amounts of trace elements and eat more dark-colored foods, such as black beans, black rice, black sesame seeds, walnut kernels, black fungus, black dates, mulberries, peanuts, etc.

Do not eat foods containing vitamin C, such as tomatoes, oranges, grapefruits, apricots, hawthorns, strawberries, kiwis, etc., and do not drink carbonated beverages.
