Generally, if the patient has a superficial perianal abscess, it can be dissipated by antibiotics, hot water sitz baths, local physical therapy, etc. However, most patients, especially those with recurrent episodes, generally require surgical incision of the abscess to fully drain the pus and prevent its continued spread in order to relieve pain and other symptoms.

Patients with recurrent disease often have anal fistula, so if you want to cure it and avoid recurrence, you must treat the anal fistula first. It is recommended to use potassium permanganate solution for local sitz bath to keep the perineum clean. At the same time, antibiotics are used to control infection. About 3 months after the abscess ruptures or incision and drainage, the inflammation around the anal fistula will subside, a fibrous duct will be formed, and then surgery can be performed to treat the anal fistula.
