Symptoms of neurasthenia, have you encountered these?

Some friends always have symptoms of poor sleep quality at night. They feel sleepy when they should get up. In fact, this is a very typical symptom of neurasthenia. In addition, the mind is easily excited, easily annoyed and irritated, and there are back pains or muscle pains in the limbs.

1. Debilitating symptoms . This is a common basic symptom of this disease. Patients often feel lack of energy, listlessness, inability to use their brains, or slow brain power, limb weakness, drowsiness; especially after working for a while, they feel unable to concentrate, have difficulty thinking, and their work efficiency is significantly reduced. Even adequate rest is not enough to restore their fatigue. Many patients complain that they lose things when doing things, often make mistakes when speaking, and cannot remember what they have just experienced.

2. Symptoms of excitement. Patients are easily excited when reading books or newspapers or watching TV, and they can't help but have more memories and associations. Patients find directional thinking difficult, while undirected thinking is very active and uncontrollable. This phenomenon is particularly obvious before falling asleep, which makes patients feel deeply distressed. Some patients are also sensitive to sound and light.

3. Emotional symptoms. The main manifestations are easy worry and irritability. The content of the worry often involves various contradictions in real life, which make people feel difficult and unable to solve them. On the other hand, self-control is weakened and they are easily excited when encountering things; or they are irritable and angry, lose their temper with family members, and regret it afterwards; or they are easily sad and cry. About 1/4 of the patients have anxiety and have doubts, worries and nervousness about the disease they suffer from. For example, patients may suspect that they have heart disease because of palpitations and rapid pulse; or they may worry about gastric cancer because of abdominal distension and anorexia; or they may think that they have an incurable disease because of poor treatment effect. This hypochondriasis can aggravate the patient's anxiety and tension, forming a vicious circle. About 40% of the patients have short-term, mild depression during the course of the disease, and the score on the Hamilton Depression Scale is often below 10. They may blame themselves, but generally do not have suicidal thoughts or attempts. Some patients have resentment and blame others for the cause of the disease.

4. Tension pain . It is often caused by tension, with tension headache being the most common. Patients feel a heaviness, swelling, tightness in the head, or a stiff neck; some complain of back pain or muscle pain in the limbs.

5. Sleep disorders. The most common symptom is difficulty falling asleep and tossing and turning, which leads to irritability and even more difficulty falling asleep. The second most common symptom is dreaming, easy waking up from a startle, or a feeling that the sleep is very shallow, as if no sleep was made all night. Some patients feel tired and sleepy after waking up; or they feel sleepy during the day, but when they go to bed they feel their brains are excited and have difficulty falling asleep, which manifests as a disorder of sleep rhythm. Some patients have fallen asleep soundly and snore loudly, but after waking up they firmly deny that they have slept and lack a real sense of sleep. The worry and distress of these patients about insomnia often exceeds the pain caused by the sleep disorder itself, reflecting the patients' anxious mood about sleep.
