Symptoms of retinal arteriosclerosis

Arteriosclerosis is relatively common in clinical practice, and sclerosis may also occur in the fundus. The symptoms of retinal arteriosclerosis are relatively obvious. This disease mainly affects middle-aged and elderly people, and patients mainly experience symptoms in their eyelids. This condition is also known as xanthomas.

1. Many middle-aged and elderly people sometimes grow one or two rice-sized, round or oval, flat, raised, soft, light yellow warts on their eyelids. This is medically called xanthoma. This is often due to the long-term accumulation of cholesterol in the blood, which causes excess cholesterol to deposit on the eyelids.

2. The appearance of xanthomas on the eyelids is a sign of excessive cholesterol in the blood. Excessive cholesterol in the blood will not only deposit on the skin, but more importantly, it will deposit on the endothelium of the arteries in the body, causing atherosclerosis. This is the symptom of retinal arteriosclerosis.

3. Retinal hemorrhage caused by arteriosclerosis is a very common retinal disease. It is mainly divided into two types. One is simple arteriosclerosis, without other complications such as hypertension, diabetes, etc., and no more lesions in the eyes. It is just that the retinal artery becomes slightly thinner and causes bleeding; the other is retinal arteriosclerosis and bleeding caused by systemic diseases.

4. Treatment: ① Release repressed or nervous emotions: Chronic depression or persistent tension can stimulate the sympathetic nerves, which can easily lead to rapid heartbeat, vasoconstriction, increased blood pressure, and reduced blood flow. ② Reduce fat intake in diet: Eat less fried foods with high content of "saturated fatty acids" and foods containing "high cholesterol" such as shrimp, liver, kidney and other offal, egg yolk, etc.
