What is varicose vein?

Varicose cord is a disease that men may suffer from. It is a vascular disease. The symptoms of varicose cord are mainly abdominal pain and abnormal urination, and even pelvic masses. When men develop varicose cord, they need timely treatment.

Cause: This disease is a vascular disease characterized by varying degrees of dilation and tortuosity of the intravaricanal venous plexus. According to the cause, VC can be divided into primary and secondary VC. Primary VC may be caused by increased intravascular pressure, the long left spermatic vein that flows into the left renal vein at a right angle, the compression of the left renal vein by the superior mesenteric artery and aorta, affecting the return of the left internal spermatic vein, which is the "nutcracker" phenomenon (NCS), weak connective tissue around the internal spermatic vein, dysfunction and incomplete closure of the venous valves, abnormal structure of the spermatic vein wall tissue, anatomical variation of the spermatic vein, incomplete development of the levator testis muscle and other anatomical factors or developmental abnormalities. The causes of secondary VC may include: intra-abdominal or retroperitoneal tumors, hydronephrosis, ectopic blood vessels compressing the ascending spermatic vein, etc.

Clinical manifestations: Patients often do not receive timely diagnosis and treatment due to lack of conscious symptoms, which ultimately leads to impaired spermatogenesis in some patients. A small number of patients may experience scrotal swelling and localized heaviness and pain when standing, which may radiate to the lower abdomen, groin area or lower back. Symptoms worsen after fatigue or prolonged standing, and are alleviated or disappear after lying down to rest.

Symptomatic varicocele may have a history of primary diseases such as kidney tumors and hydronephrosis; primary varicocele may have a history of male infertility. When the patient stands, the scrotum swells, and there is a feeling of heaviness and distension, which may radiate to the lower abdomen, groin or waist. It worsens when walking and working, and is relieved after lying down to rest. The degree of varicose veins may not be consistent with the symptoms, and sometimes there are symptoms of neurasthenia or sexual dysfunction. The primary symptoms that cause symptomatic varicocele include abdominal pain, anemia, hematuria, pelvic mass, etc.

Diagnosis: 1. Filariasis varicocele The spermatic cord is thickened, tortuous, and dilated, similar to varicocele. However, the patient had a history of recurrent filarial varicocele. Palpation may reveal a small cord-like mass in the lower part of the spermatic cord, which is more severe in the standing position and less severe in the lying position. Microfilariae can be found in the peripheral blood after falling asleep.

2. Filariasis varicocele may cause a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, thickening of the spermatic cord, obvious tenderness, and recurrent severe or dull pain in the local area. A small nodule may appear at the lower end of the spermatic cord.

3. Vas deferens epididymal tuberculosis also causes a feeling of heaviness in the scrotum, but its characteristic is the beaded changes in the vas deferens. Irregular nodules may appear at the tail of the epididymis, and sinus tracts that are adhered to the scrotum may also appear.
