Is fresh ginseng better or dried ginseng?

Both fresh ginseng and dried ginseng have good health-care effects, and there is not much difference in nutritional effects. The nutritional value of fresh ginseng is more complete, but the ginseng we usually eat is mostly dried ginseng, because dried ginseng is easier to preserve and has the same very good nutritional effects. If you buy fresh ginseng, you can put it in the refrigerator to store it at a low temperature, so that it can be preserved for a certain period of time.

Normally, after we buy fresh ginseng, we can use the refrigerator to store it at a low temperature. When refrigerated, the temperature should be controlled at 0~2℃. You can wrap fresh ginseng with plastic wrap and put it in the refrigerator to avoid odor contamination. This method can generally be maintained for half a month to several months. However, since nutrients will be slowly lost during the storage process, it is better to consume it as soon as possible. You can understand this by referring to fresh vegetables.

After picking, ginseng should be fully air-dried in the shade, placed in a sealed wooden box or jar, and stored in a cool and dry place. You can also use medicinal alcohol or edible white wine (usually 50 degrees) together with ginseng. Usually 10 ml of wine is needed for every kilogram of ginseng, so that it will not become moldy, deteriorate or infested with insects. Be careful not to drink too much alcohol, otherwise it will reduce the medicinal value.

The specific operations are as follows:

1. Place a bamboo tube for wine at the bottom of a wooden box or jar, put an appropriate amount of cotton in the tube, and make some small holes on the tube to allow the alcohol to dissipate.

2. Wrap the ginseng tightly with moisture-proof paper and put it into a container.

3. Seal the entire container and store it in a cool and dry place.

People with strong allergies should not take ginseng if they develop a rash after taking it. It should not be taken when there is purulent inflammation.

Hypertensive patients have hyperactivity of liver yang, which can easily cause cerebrovascular accidents after taking ginseng. However, hypertensive patients with deficiency and cold can use ginseng, but the dosage should be small. When the systolic blood pressure is >180mmHg, no matter what type of disease it is, it is not suitable to take ginseng.
