Abdominal massage refers to a method of achieving health care effects by relaxing the body through massage and acupressure on the abdomen and various acupoints. Because the abdominal pushing method is performed on the acupuncture points and meridians of the human body, it can promote blood circulation in the human body, and has the effects of promoting blood circulation, removing blood stasis, relaxing meridians and activating collaterals, and has a good health care effect on the liver, stomach and spleen. However, if incorrect methods are adopted, it may be harmful to the human body. The following are some of the hazards.

For example, rubbing the abdomen counterclockwise is an incorrect method and will cause harm to the human body.

If you go against the flow, the danger will be extremely great. Gastrointestinal qi is in disarray and intestinal function is disordered, which aggravates the condition. For example, if the food waste has reached the descending colon, pressing and massaging it in reverse can cause dry and hard stools, which are pushed downward and discharged, and the gas cannot be discharged, causing abdominal distension. What is even more dangerous is reverse pressing and pushing, which can induce "intestinal overlap", which can be fatal.

Abdominal massage process

Now that we have a little understanding we can get started.

1. It is best to lie flat on the bed, first make fists with both hands (you can also use the heels of your palms), start pushing down from the Ren Mai in the middle of the abdomen below the heart, and then push along the stomach meridian, spleen meridian, gallbladder meridian and other meridian areas in turn. The force should be moderate during the pushing process, and at the same time feel whether there is any abnormality in the abdomen. Repeat this cycle for 10-20 times. During this period, you may feel pain, soreness, numbness, or water sound in a certain area of ​​the abdominal skin. These superficial problems will soon be exposed and gradually diverge, move, advance, and finally disappear with the pushing.

2. After completing the first round of abdominal pushing, we use our thumbs to press down along several meridians with slightly greater force than when pushing. Press and rub along the way with our fingers. This way, we can find more subtle lumps, nodules, air masses, pain points, etc. Due to the strong force, we can often find many deeper problems. And through acupressure, toxins from deep inside can be brought to the surface, and by concentrating superior forces to attack, the blockage points can be rubbed open and dispersed. For example, use your fingers, the base of your palm, or even a massage stick to stimulate the blockage points, but don't use too much force to avoid hurting your internal organs. You can also use a technique similar to pinching the spine, pinching the skin and pushing it down, or pulling the skin and muscles outward and flicking them. Many methods you can think of, stimulate sensitive areas to help adhesions and abnormal tissues separate, thereby restoring the patency of the meridians. During the acupressure and kneading process, bruises or purple spots like coin eyes may appear. Don't be afraid, those are old blood bruises that have been turned out by you and will no longer block the meridians.

3. Use your palms to push down the side of the abdomen (the red liver-soothing and qi-regulating area in the picture) from the armpit to the waist, from top to bottom and from bottom to top. Do this about thirty-six times.

Detailed method:

It is called abdominal kneading, but it is actually the concentrated application of pushing, clouding, rubbing and shaking methods. This method has the effects of dredging the meridians, harmonizing the Ying and Wei, relieving the Qi, balancing the Yin and Yang, and promoting the recovery of chronic diseases of the internal organs.

This method can be performed while standing or lying down.

(1) Stretch out the index, middle and ring fingers of both hands and put them together to form a three-finger shape (the thumb and little finger can be stretched out separately). Press them side by side on the heart. Rub the heart with both hands from left to right in a clockwise direction twenty-one times (circles).

Instructions: The angle between the palm and the body should be small, and press with the tips of the first and second joints of the fingers. Using both hands, the qi and blood and attention are more concentrated to stimulate the Zhongting acupuncture point. The mind should be calm and relaxed. Do not tilt your head back and straighten your waist. Relax the waist, slightly retract the chin, and place the tongue flat. Put both feet flat on the floor, of course with shoes on. From left to right in a clockwise direction. According to the experience of massage in past dynasties, from left to right in a clockwise direction is the method of replenishing qi. Keep your eyelids lowered. Both cold and hot reactions are normal. Cold means the air from the outside has entered, and heat means the acupuncture points in the body have been stimulated.

(2) Rub your hands in a clockwise circle until you reach the high bone at the bladder level below the navel. Then, rub your hands in a circle to both sides from the high bone and return to the pit of your stomach.

Description: I feel my stomach is empty, which is quite comfortable. There is a feeling of air dispersing, and also a feeling of emptiness. It is the experience of opening the Ren meridian acupoints. It can relieve depression and resolve stagnation.

(3) Then, push your hands straight down from the pit of your stomach to your groin twenty-one times.

Instructions: Be slow and gentle, and use the tips of three fingers to push from top to bottom. After pushing once, take your hand back and push a second time. You will feel heat in the pit of your stomach and a hollow feeling like a bamboo tube from the pit of your stomach to the bottom, and you will want to defecate. This is to push out the stagnation in the intestines

(4) Place the index finger, middle finger and ring finger of your left hand on the pelvis of your left thigh next to the bladder, as if your left hand is on your waist. Then use the middle three fingers of your right hand (index finger, middle finger and ring finger) to rub around the navel twenty-one times (circles) in a clockwise direction.

Description: Abdominal massage to boost temper.

(5) Then switch sides and press the right pelvis with the middle three fingers of your right hand as if your right hand is on your waist, while the middle three fingers of your left hand rub around your navel in a counterclockwise direction for twenty-one (circles).

Description: This can regulate liver qi. The above massage harmonizes the liver and spleen.

(6) Then, use your left thumb to point forward and the other four fingers to point backward to gently pinch the left waist and kidney. Use the middle three fingers of your right hand to push from under the left breast to the side of the left thigh and pelvis twenty-one times.

Description: Push down stomach qi. It has excellent health benefits for those suffering from hiccups and heartburn.

(7) Then switch sides and use your right thumb to point forward and the other four fingers to point backward to gently pinch the right waist and kidney. Use the middle three fingers of your left hand to push from under the right breast to the side of the right thigh and pelvis twenty-one times.

Description: It can promote the descending of stomach qi to the left and right sides, making the chest spacious.

(8) After finishing, sit with your legs crossed and place your palms on your left and right thighs and knees. Swing your upper body from left to right clockwise twenty-one times, and then swing it counterclockwise twenty-one times.

Note: This is to shake the kidney qi.

When shaking, you should relax naturally and try to move your upper body outward, but not too quickly. Then stop and stand up. Completing the above steps counts as one time. It can be done once in the morning, noon and evening. Do it three times at the beginning, five times after three days, and seven times after another three days. This method can be done by everyone except pregnant women.

Practicing this method daily can strengthen the stomach, intestines, bladder and reduce abdominal fat. It can also cure physical weakness, asthma, and internal organs. It can prevent colds and treat high blood pressure, neurasthenia, insomnia, etc. It can also prevent diseases, slow down aging, eliminate fatigue, strengthen the body, make the spirit strong and prolong life. It is best if you can calm your mind, massage slowly, and relax naturally when practicing this method. The strength can be adjusted according to each individual.
