How to treat hernia with surgery

If the hernia is more serious, surgical treatment is generally required. This is called hernia repair surgery, which is to sew the defective part with thread to repair the defect. This is also a common surgical treatment for inguinal hernia. After the operation, the patient should understand some postoperative precautions. Within one to two weeks, there will be a certain tightness, which will cause pain. This is a normal phenomenon. You can take medication to fight inflammation.

Principle of surgery

A one-piece artificial mesh that is larger than the hernia gap is used to repair and strengthen the damaged abdominal wall gap. The overall structure includes two layers of artificial mesh and a connecting central axis. The central axis of the mesh is used to block the hernia gap. The upper and lower layers of artificial mesh can be attached to the inner and outer sides of the damaged abdominal wall. The compression resistance principle of dam repair is used to enhance the pressure resistance, which can block the pressure of the abdominal wall and will not increase the tension of the abdominal wall.

Reduce the possibility of postoperative pain and recurrence in patients. After three years of follow-up, the recurrence rate of patients using tension-free three-in-one artificial mesh is less than 0.05%, and it also has the advantages of short operation time, low pain, and fast recovery. Usually, patients only need to stay in the hospital for 1-2 days after surgery and can quickly return to normal work and life. This surgery is currently a self-funded project.

Selection of artificial mesh:

During this operation, a lightweight artificial mesh (Lightweight Partially Absorbable Mesh) will be selected. This new type of mesh is developed using modern technology. It originated in Europe and can be used in the treatment of inguinal hernia. Its main features are that part of the material is absorbable and the holes are large, so that less foreign matter is left, and it is easy to form a more elastic scab tissue that fits the abdominal wall structure.

Postoperative matters

1. The wound will feel tight and painful 1 to 2 weeks after the operation. This is normal. The doctor will prescribe painkillers for you to relieve the pain.

2. The wound should be kept clean and dry. If the gauze becomes wet, please notify the nurse and the doctor will change the gauze for you.

3. You should lie flat on the bed after the operation. If you want to sit in a semi-lying position, you should bend your knees to avoid increased abdominal pressure.

4. Usually you can get out of bed and move around on the day after the operation. When getting out of bed, first move the healthy side of the body to the edge of the bed, lie on the healthy side, and use the healthy arm to support the body to sit up. When you want to lie down, first sit on the edge of the bed, use the healthy arm to support the body, and slowly lie down from the healthy side.

5. If there is tension at the suture site or swelling of the scrotum, you must stay in bed and can only get out of bed after the swelling disappears.

6. Strengthen nutrition and eat light and easy to digest food.

7. Avoid excessive activities, running or jumping within one and a half months after the operation, and avoid constipation, coughing, crying, etc. to prevent recurrence.
