The relationship between gout and hyperlipidemia

The relationship between gout and hyperlipidemia

Gout and hyperlipidemia are closely related. Investigations have found that patients with hyperlipidemia are very likely to suffer from gout, and people who often suffer from gout are also prone to significantly high blood lipids. Therefore, there is a certain intrinsic connection between them. In daily life, if you can prevent high blood lipids, you can prevent the occurrence of gout to a certain extent.

The relationship between gout and hyperlipidemia

In addition to high uric acid, a high-purine diet is also a well-known factor that can easily induce gout, so most patients know that a low-purine diet should be adopted to treat gout. However, not many patients know that high blood lipids are closely related to gout attacks. To learn more about the relationship between gout and other metabolic diseases, visit satellite gcd10121. Data show that more than half of gout patients are overweight, and about 3/4 of them have hyperlipidemia.

Hypertriglyceridemia is common in gout patients

It is often accompanied by a decrease in high-density lipoprotein. Both gout and hyperlipidemia are hereditary to a certain extent. Foreign scholars' studies on the phenotype and molecular hybridization of gout with hyperlipidemia have shown that the disease is related to gene defects. It has been reported that patients with gout and hyperlipidemia have a higher apolipoprotein E4 allele than patients without hyperlipidemia, indicating that apolipoprotein E4 may induce certain susceptibility in gout patients and cause dyslipidemia. Due to the decreased activity of 3-phosphoglycerate dehydrogenase, the intermediate products in the glycolysis process can be transferred to 5-phosphoribose and phosphoribosyl pyrophosphate, leading to increased production of uric acid in the blood and causing hyperuricemia.

At the same time, 3-phosphoglycerate accumulates, causing an increase in triglycerides in the blood and hypertriglyceridemia. Dyslipidemia is one of the important factors that promote arteriosclerosis. At the same time, hyperuricemia causes crystals to deposit in the blood vessel walls, directly damaging the arterial intima and inducing and aggravating atherosclerosis. In other words, hyperuricemia may induce hypertriglyceridemia and accelerate the process of atherosclerosis.

In addition, there is currently no definite research evidence to show that hyperlipidemia is the cause of gout, but studies have shown that the larger the surface area of the human body, the higher the serum uric acid level. Hyperlipidemia is often accompanied by obesity, which increases the body's surface area and thus increases blood uric acid levels. In this sense, hyperlipidemia is one of the risk factors for gout.
