Bronchial obstruction is very harmful to patients, often leading to difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, and even suffocation. There are many causes of bronchial obstruction, the most common of which are bronchitis and bronchial asthma. The more harmful causes include foreign bodies and tumor growth. When 50% of the bronchus is blocked, severe chest tightness, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing will occur. Symptoms of bronchial obstruction The clinical symptoms of tracheal tumors vary according to the location, size and nature of the tumor. Common early symptoms are an irritating cough with little or no sputum, sometimes with blood. When the tumor grows and gradually blocks more than 50% of the tracheal lumen, shortness of breath, dyspnea, and wheezing will occur. It is often misdiagnosed as bronchial asthma and treatment is delayed. Late-stage cases of tracheal malignancy may present with symptoms such as hoarseness, dysphagia, tracheoesophageal fistula, compression of mediastinal organ tissue, cervical lymph node metastasis and purulent lung infection. Foreign bodies in the trachea: Most patients may suddenly experience choking, violent coughing fits and choking during meals, and may also experience wheezing, hoarseness, cyanosis and dyspnea. If the foreign body is small and smooth, such as melon seeds or corn kernels, a slapping sound of the foreign body hitting the glottis can be heard when the patient coughs, and a vibration may be felt when the hand is placed in front of the larynx and trachea. If the foreign body is large and blocks the trachea or is close to the bulge of the tracheal branch, the ventilation of the main bronchi on both sides may be severely obstructed, resulting in severe dyspnea, even suffocation and death. The diagnosis can be confirmed by a breath test and a chest X-ray. Patients with tracheal obstruction all have varying degrees of dyspnea and hypoxemia, and may even suffer from respiratory failure. What is acute airway obstruction? Human life activities require oxygen. Oxygen enters the body through the respiratory tract, and carbon dioxide, a waste gas from human metabolism, is also discharged from the body through the respiratory tract. The respiratory tract, also known as the airway, is an important pipeline system that provides gas exchange for our body. It is our life channel. This channel must be kept unobstructed at all times. Only in this way can people maintain normal life activities. Airway obstruction refers to an emergency situation in which a part of the respiratory tract is blocked by some substance, resulting in airflow being unable to pass and the person being unable to breathe normally. |
