How long can you live with brain cysticercosis?

Brain cysticercosis sounds like a terrible disease, but as long as the patient is careful in life, takes appropriate care, and keeps bowel movements regular and takes care of personal hygiene, it can slowly recover. If the disease is not too serious, it will not affect the patient's life span. More serious cases may shorten the life span by a few years, but the patient can live a long time.

Diet and health care: The diet should be light, pay attention to hygiene, and match meals reasonably.

Prevention and care of cerebral cysticercosis has involved more than 20 provinces in China, among which the Northeast and the Yellow River Basin are high-incidence areas. It is also not uncommon in some provinces in the southwest. Therefore, it is urgent to increase the prevention and control of this disease in China.

Prevention of this disease should start with eliminating the source of infection and cutting off the transmission route.

1. Promote and popularize the medical knowledge of cysticercosis so that people can understand the importance of hygienic eating habits, change the habit of eating half-cooked pork, and strictly prevent "rice pork" from entering the body.

2. Strictly manage feces to eliminate insect eggs.

3. The most important thing is to strictly implement the Food Management Law, strengthen the sanitary quarantine of pork food, and strictly prohibit the marketing of pork with cysticercosis; in addition, the management and treatment of live pigs are also very important, such as keeping them in pens, promptly treating pig intestinal worms, slaughtering live pigs with cysticercosis and burying them deeply or using them as industrial raw materials.

Symptoms and signs 1. Clinical classification In 1986, the editorial department of the Chinese Journal of Neuropsychiatry divided the clinical manifestations of cerebral cysticercosis in China into 6 types and several subtypes. In 1994, Ge Lingyun, Kong Qingan and others divided neurological cysticercosis into 9 types in their monograph. They are introduced as follows:

(1) Epileptic type: epilepsy is the prominent symptom. The seizure forms can be general major seizures, minor seizures, psychomotor seizures or focal seizures. The diversity and easy conversion of seizure forms are the characteristics of this type.

The leptomeningeal (subarachnoid) type is mainly characterized by meningeal damage without obvious brain parenchymal damage and can be further divided into:

① Meningitis type: manifested by meningeal irritation signs and inflammatory reaction in cerebrospinal fluid.

② Skull base adhesion type: It may manifest as increased intracranial pressure, with head CT scan or ventriculography showing general enlargement of the ventricles, or other manifestations of skull base arachnoid adhesions even though the intracranial pressure is not high.
