Litsea cubeba oil for seasoning: There are serious obstacles in the formulation of standards for Litsea cubeba oil as a seasoning, which conflicts with the national QS specifications for seasoning oils. The moisture and volatile matter indexes of Litsea cubeba oil are much higher than the mandatory indexes specified in the QS for seasoning oils (the same is true for Sichuan pepper oil). The moisture and volatile matter in seasoning oil QS regulations are ≤0.2%. The Litsea cubeba oil used as a seasoning mainly utilizes the volatile components of Litsea cubeba oil, namely the seasoning components, which are also the components favored by consumers. Therefore, the more Litsea cubeba essential oil the Litsea cubeba oil contains, the higher its volatiles.
