Symptoms of colic in eight month old baby

Feeding a child is very hard, especially if the baby cries for no reason in the middle of the night. Not only will the adults not be able to rest well, but the child will also not be able to rest well. Everyone knows that night is the key to the baby's growth and development. If the baby cries for no reason and no amount of comforting shows any improvement, the baby is likely to have colic. If the baby is like this for more than three days a week, the baby is likely to have colic. What are the symptoms of colic in an eight-month-old baby?

Symptoms of colic in eight month old baby

1. Continuous crying

Babies usually cry at a fixed time of the day, mostly in the evening or midnight, and sometimes for several hours. Their crying is more hoarse and the decibel of their crying is higher than usual.

2. Abdominal distension

If the baby's abdomen is higher than the chest when lying flat, and it feels hard to the touch, and it hurts when pressed, this may be colic caused by intestinal gas.

3. Inability to sleep

The pain caused by colic can make the baby feel restless and have difficulty falling asleep. The baby may also wake up from sleep in the middle of the night due to the pain, making it impossible to fall asleep. Parents should try to comfort their baby, for example by rocking or patting him/her to relieve his/her anxiety.

4. The face is red or pale

If colic is severe, the baby's face will turn red or pale due to the pain, and the hands and feet will curl up to the abdomen as if in pain; from time to time, the baby will straighten his hands and feet and then curl them towards the body.

5. Fist Kick

In addition to expressing pain through crying, babies will also use body movements such as clenching their fists and kicking their legs to show physical discomfort. Parents should pay close attention to their baby's body language to identify their baby's reactions when he or she is suffering from colic.

6. Continuous exhaust

Intestinal gas can cause colic. If you find that your baby is constantly passing gas (commonly known as farting) while crying in the middle of the night, this may be colic. Parents can try to relieve discomfort by massaging or applying hot compresses to the abdomen to help the baby expel gas.

A baby cannot express himself with words, he can only vent his emotions through crying and body movements. This requires us as parents to master more parenting information so that we can understand your baby at the critical moment and know what to do to comfort the baby. Being a parent is not easy, the right thing to do is to learn more.
