Causes of ADHD in children

Causes of ADHD in children

ADHD is a disease that occurs in children. This disease is a disease in which children cannot control their own activities. It is a disease that is difficult to treat and not easy to detect. There are many causes of ADHD in children, but many people do not understand the causes of this disease or do not know about this disease. So what are the causes of ADHD in children?

Genetic factors: About 40% of the parents of children with ADHD have siblings and other relatives who also suffered from the disorder in their childhood. The incidence of ADHD symptoms in monozygotic twins is significantly higher than that in dizygotic twins. The incidence of ADHD in siblings is higher than that in half-siblings (same mother, half-siblings, half-siblings with the same father), and is higher than that in normal children. There are also more relatives suffering from alcoholism, antisocial personality disorder and hysteria. The above points all suggest that genetic factors are closely related to ADHD, which is also the cause of ADHD.

Organic damage to brain tissue: About 85% of children with ADHD suffer from dysfunction of the prefrontal lobe or caudate nucleus, including: maternal illness during pregnancy such as hypertension, nephritis, anemia, low fever, threatened abortion, cold, etc.; abnormal delivery process such as premature birth, forceps delivery, cesarean section, asphyxia, intracranial hemorrhage, etc.; infection and trauma to the central nervous system within 1 to 2 years of delivery; the mother often has a history of heavy smoking or alcoholism. Children with the above conditions are more likely to develop ADHD, which is the cause of ADHD.

Environmental factors - lead poisoning: The causes of ADHD in children also include social, family and psychological factors. A bad social environment, a broken family, parents with bad personalities, unexpected mental stimulation, etc. can easily lead to children's inattention and hyperactivity. Other studies have found that vitamin deficiency or metabolic disorders caused by certain food additives or pigments are related to hyperactive behavior in children. Lead poisoning is a popular theory, but not all children with the same condition are hyperactive, so the cause of this childhood ADHD needs further study.

Biological factors: A large number of studies have confirmed that the central monoamine receptors (a neurotransmitter that transmits information to the brain and is a chemical substance closely related to mental activity) of children with ADHD are updated more slowly. The latest medical research from Harvard University in the United States found that the prefrontal lobe images of children with ADHD are darker than those of normal children. This is because children's ADHD is caused by defects in the prefrontal inhibition system that controls attention and executes central nervous system commands in the brain.

Neurotransmitters and enzymes : Although the research results of neurotransmitters and enzymes are often contradictory, it is still a way to study the cause of this disease.

Influence of social, family and psychological factors: such as adverse social environment or family conditions (broken families, economic poverty, crowded housing, parents with bad personalities, alcoholism, drug abuse, mental illness, etc.) can all become triggers of the disease and affect the development of the disease and prognosis.

Other factors: Nutritional problems, vitamin deficiencies, food allergies, food flavorings or added artificial colors may make children more susceptible to ADHD.
