Erythema annulare is a group of skin diseases characterized by annular or gyral erythema. It is not an independent disease, but a manifestation of dermal inflammatory response caused by various reasons, namely vascular dilation, congestion or cell infiltration on the skin. It usually includes diseases such as simple gyrate erythema, centrifugal annular erythema, creeping gyrate erythema, chronic migratory erythema and rheumatic marginal erythema. Erythema simplex guratum is an allergic vascular reaction, which is more common in young women. The onset of the disease is often preceded by a respiratory tract infection or occurs a few days before menstruation. Erythema annulase centrifugum is an erythematous skin disease characterized by centrifugal expansion of multiple annular lesions and scaling.

It may be an allergic reaction caused by chronic rheumatic lesions (such as tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media, cholecystitis, gingival abscess, tuberculosis, etc.), fungal infection (such as Candida albicans, Penicillium, etc.), insect bites (such as ticks), rickettsia, drugs (such as penicillin), food (such as moldy cheese) and digestive tract dysfunction caused by food. Or autoimmunity caused by certain malignant tumors (such as breast cancer, ovarian cancer, nasopharyngeal cancer, bronchial cancer or lung cancer, as well as malignant tumors of the central nervous system). In addition, some people believe that it is related to endocrine diseases (menstrual rash, goiter, diabetes, etc.) and autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Rheumatic annular erythema is often accompanied by active rheumatic symptoms. The presence of annular erythema in children with Still's disease often indicates the presence of cardiac disease.

The cause of erythema annulase centrifugum is a hypersensitivity reaction caused by a variety of etiologies, such as infections (viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites), drugs (penicillin, antimalarials), underlying malignant diseases, foods (moldy cheese), endocrine changes (menstrual cycle), and cholelithiasis.

Erythema gyratum repens is an allergic reaction of the body to tumor tissue. This disease is rare and its cause is unknown.
