Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment of Herpes Zoster

In our daily life, we can use traditional Chinese medicine to treat diseases such as shingles, or we can use Western medicine to treat them. However, we recommend that you use traditional Chinese medicine because it treats the source of the disease, so the treatment will be more thorough. Traditional Chinese medicine can treat herpes zoster by taking Sanzi Decoction or Dai Za Tang, etc. These medicines have a good inhibitory effect on herpes zoster.

The upper part: refers to the area above the neck to the head and face. The treatment is mainly based on clearing away heat and purging fire, calming the liver and cooling blood. The prescription is Yinqiao Sanhuang Decoction (Coptis chinensis, Scutellaria baicalensis, Rhizoma Renzhong, Cortex Moutan, Flos Lonicerae, Forsythiae Suspensa, Lithospermum officinale, Folium Isatidis) plus wild chrysanthemum.

The middle part refers to the waist and abdomen to the chest and flanks. The treatment is to clear the liver and reduce fire, regulate qi and relieve pain. The prescription is Yinqiao Sanhuang Decoction plus Corydalis yanhusuo.

The lower part: refers to the area below the lower abdomen. It is treated by clearing away heat and dampness, purging fire and detoxifying. The prescription is Yinqiao Sanhuang Decoction plus Huangbai.

Prescription: Shedan Decoction: 60 grams each of Isatis indigotica leaf and Isatis root, 10 grams of Lithospermum officinale, 10 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis, and 30 grams of Honeysuckle. Decoction in water, 1 dose per day. If the pain is severe, add 10 grams each of frankincense and myrrh. If the itching is severe, add 10 grams each of white moss and Kochia scoparia. For external use, dissolve Qilin Powder in boiling water and apply to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day.

San Zi Tang: Lithospermum officinale, ... Viola yedoensis, Plantago seed, Poria peel, Akebia trifoliata, Scrophularia ningpoensis, Isatis indigotica, and Licorice.

Rash soup: Salvia miltiorrhiza, white peony root, bupleurum, isatis root, barbata scabra, gentiana macrophylla, gentian, angelica, gardenia, scutellaria, corydalis, and licorice.

Zi Lan Bai Chi Tang: Lithospermum officinale, Isatis root, White moss peel, Red peony root, Moutan bark, cicada shell, mint, Coix seed, Sophora flavescens.

For external treatment, use 30 grams each of raw rhubarb, Sichuan phellodendron, and Sichuan coptis chinensis, and 5 grams each of processed frankincense and processed myrrh. Grind the above medicines into fine powder, add appropriate amount of strong tea, mix into a paste and apply to the affected area.

Mash the fresh tuber of Aesculus multiflorus and apply it to the affected area. Generally, the fever and pain will subside after half an hour, and the herpes can disappear after 1 to 2 times.

Wash 12 grams of fresh purslane, mash it into a paste and apply it to the affected area, changing the dressing twice a day.

30 grams of rhubarb, 30 grams of phellodendron, 21 grams of talc, 60 grams of indigo, 5 grams of borneol, and 10 grams of licorice. Grind them into fine powder, mix well, add Vaseline to make a paste and apply it to the affected area.

Boil Eucalyptus regia in water to make a 10% solution, and apply the solution to the affected area with gauze.

Apply persimmon juice to the rash and surrounding painful areas 3 times a day. 64 cases were treated, and the rash disappeared in an average of 3.2 to 4.7 days, and the neuralgia disappeared in an average of 3 to 4 days.
